Wibble Posted December 14, 2023 Author Posted December 14, 2023 Mum’s on her way home now by ambulance . My sister has sat with her all afternoon waiting for the pharmacy to issue her meds so that they can go. They finally issued the wrong meds and closed. How fucking typical of that, not fit for purpose, shit hole. The last time they released her, over 2 months ago, inappropriately and with no meds, because they got lost between pharmacy and ward. Both sisters that are there, are extremely anxious and upset at what’s ahead, as are we, with no immediate help available if anything happens. Bren, Dyslexic Viking, Coprolalia and 6 others 9

Get sisters to go and see PALS (they will have an office in the hospital), they are the people that can chivvy people up and put some pressure on.

Thanks but not the same in Scotland, it’s PASS and you have to through CAB. Will still mention it though, cheers.
Wibble Posted December 14, 2023 Author Posted December 14, 2023 Mum’s safely home now and was elevated in the bed to be able to see her room. She’s happy to be home and has had water and some ensure milk drink. So at least she’s still taking that. My sisters have agreed a shift pattern to check on her every 2 hours through the night. Two carers visited earlier and were very kind but had very poor English but that is the norm now I think. They’ll be back at 9am tomorrow. We’re all praying she gets to see Christmas now.
danthecapriman Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Fingers crossed 🤞 At least she’s home now. Sometimes that bit of familiarity can really help. Hopefully she’s more comfortable being at home.

Wibble Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 Mum mostly asleep all the time now. All 3 of my sisters are now with her. GP visited this morning and said for her to start taking morphine, as she had an uncomfortable night. Her breathing is very shallow now and we don’t think she’ll make it to Christmas. High Jetter Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I suspect you're right, and the morphine will be for pain relief. Make the most of any wakeful moments. Snake Charmer and Wibble 1 1
Tickman Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 At least your mum is home where she is likely to feel most relaxed. Wibble 1
Wibble Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 Thanks guys, just had a call from eldest sis. Doctor has said no more fluids except on sponge. District nurse just been out and put a line in for anti-anxiety meds to help relax her, as worried about choking. Upsetting call as I feel guilty for not being there but sis assured me they all know I’ve been up twice in last couple of weeks and Mrs W needs me here. Mum is still totally with it though, wanted my sister to write down the jewellery she wanted Mrs W to have. Is already listed but wanted to make sure she also knew, so others didn’t try and take it. Younger, not youngest, sister arrived lunchtime. Booked basic hire car for 3 days. Phoned eldest when leaving hire depot as they’d upgraded her to brand new Merc CLA and she didn’t want people think she was being extravagant! I’d rather a Skoda!
Wibble Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 Mum has gone now, don’t know what else to say. I’ve gone from two parents to one parent, to no parents in 14 months. My boys are devastated too. scdan4, Popsicle, junkyarddog and 31 others 34

Wibble Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 With everything that’s been going on the last few months, my cars have been totally neglected and untouched. Decided to take the Senny for a spin this afternoon and treated it to a £30 drink of super unleaded, followed by a short blast in the country: It’s in desperate need of a wash but my elbow is very painful after all the van washing yesterday, so it will have to wait. Thanks to everyone for your kind messages today. rainagain, mercedade, adw1977 and 18 others 21

Snake Charmer Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 I hope your Mother went peacefully, at least she was home and hopefully with family around in the final hours even if you could not be there. I really get the time you have taken in the Senator. 👍 bunglebus and Wibble 1 1

There is a tenuous connection with the Senator, she was with Dad when he borrowed it for a few days in Ireland, all those years ago when his Legend was awaiting a new battery. Knowing Dad drove that car always gets me. That was indeed the reason for my drive today. Matty, Snake Charmer, adw1977 and 3 others 6
Wibble Posted December 23, 2023 Author Posted December 23, 2023 Sorry folks, question for the photographers on here but what the fuck is the green glowing stuff on the front grille? Son just questioned it.
EspenO Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Lens flare from the headlight, I think? Sorry for your loss. There will be better days after these. Matty, bunglebus and Wibble 1 2
Wibble Posted December 25, 2023 Author Posted December 25, 2023 Today has been a very hard day. I’ve had my sisters crying on the phone but all of us remembering the wonderful Christmases we had as children. No matter how skint they were, Christmas was always the most special time. We went to Mass last night to avoid having to go out today and have enjoyed a nice Christmas dinner, but the pain is immense. My dear parents about 1989: God bless you Mum & Dad Rust Collector, mercedade, Matty and 9 others 1 11
