KruJoe Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 300 sheets looks like a winner! It certainly looks a lot smarter than my other one. Hopefully it needs no more than a tyre and a wheel bearing for its test. Fingers crossed. A mate had a 2.0 Sport. We spent a while toggling a purposeful looking switch of mystery, eventually coming to the conclusion that it just changed the brightness of the clock. Yes, my 1.8 GL has that, and a collar on the indicator stalk that twists to dim the dials. This 2.0 GL (same year) doesn't By the way, I found a name "hynix" on the main chip: i had the same problem ... cut an inch out of the wire and it Worked Good luckTa!Unless the cable you sacrificed is especially long I doubt the problem is high resistance. Nowt wrong with the logic though, given your previous experience of the device’s unreliability it could be worth giving it a go. Try it – nowt to be lost.OK then... Un-soldering and redoing it with a shorter cable seemed to make no difference to it's behaviour. And took its toll on the 'print lands'. Looks like the pads couldn't take the (tiny) weight of the PCB after repeated soldering, so it looks like an unhappy ending
M'coli Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Hope this isn't a repost, and if not hope it's of some use: did you format it to FAT32, or FAT? 2GB and upwards need FAT32 formatting.
chester drawers Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Bugger! That black cable’s the earth. I could move it to either of the two oval-shaped plate-through mount points seen at the edge of the PCB in one of your earlier photos... ...where it would work just as well. So long as none of the other pads are lifting it makes no difference to the end result. Offers still there if you want me to have a shufty.
Minimad5 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Chester i don't think he wants you to see his files (Naughty pictures of a certain lady have we ?)Only Jokin'Although it is rather kind of you to offer him the help.

chester drawers Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 If you had important data which needed recovery I’d still go for it. As thankfully that’s safely stored elsewhere we’ll give it a decent burial then! Whilst it’s still possible to tag on link wires further down the print, the end result wouldn’t stand up to too much moving about in the long term. Don’t let it put you off getting in amongst it and having a go in future though
KruJoe Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 ...we’ll give it a decent burial then! I think it's time to admit defeat.A sincere thank you for your assistance. We learnt a lot. A parting gift to the helpers:
