would someone else hosting with a new link work? I seem to recall the host needs a paid version of zoom or everyone gets booted after 30 mins or something such

Clutching at straws but can you not start the meeting on mobile and the send host over to someone else, or is that not possible in the circumstance?

Sadly no one able to do it at home either... good idea though I had discussed that one with Mrs_b beforehand.

That puts pressure on me to remember and not get distracted at the opportune time. I may even be home by 8 (it’s the first of a very local cars and coffee style meet...) but I hate ambiguity... and I’d rather not let people down by them expecting me to start it and then being distracted or driving or something at 8.

Its easier letting folk down in a planned way rather than an unplanned way...

Is there anything stopping the meeting being started much earlier (like, even now) and immediately handed over to someone who will have a computer running all day anyway?  Zoom can just be running quietly in the background.

Edit:  just checked.  The free service allows up to 40 minutes service, whereas even the cheapest paid-for service allows a 30hr meeting... it could be running all day with no issue.

I had to go off early due to diary fuck up at my end (apologies to those on when I suddenly darted at 8.30!) 

I handed over hosting duties to Six-cyl.

Yeah I did after about an hour, @Six-cylinder finally felt pity figured out how to work out the Zoom machine and let me in  

(much to the disappointment of everyone else probably LOL)
