Bullshit Bingo...

I'm glad I'm on me holibobs for a couple of weeks - because if I have to read one more time the word 'vibrant' in any context relating to local government, I will scream... :x

LOL! Without wishing to re-ignite the recent private/public row, 'Vibrant' and 'Local Government' should not appear in the same sentence! :D

I love my current job on the bin wagons, it's the most satisfied I've ever been in the workplace.

I know this is the wrong thread to be agreeing with something positive, but... yes, I agree. I was a binman 30 years ago and loved it too. I hope you can make it work for you. Good luck!

I love my current job on the bin wagons, it's the most satisfied I've ever been in the workplace. Problem is, I don't think I'm cut out for it. Pushed myself to keep pace so hard today that I had to stop so I wouldn't black out, not a pleasant experience. I'll be lucky if they call me back in on Monday and, depending how I feel over the next couple of days, I'm not sure I want to go back in after today. I didn't give up, after the near black out once I'd got rid of the nasty after effects I got back out there hoiking bins about, but then my knee went 'pop' on me just reinforcing how much fitter and able the other guys are.

Keep at it, your body will get the hang of it soon enough.

+1 - This is good advice.

Late last year, I got myself back into employment after a year or so of not working. I went from waking up in the morning whenever I wanted and moping about not doing much to doing 8 days straight at some grotty little warehouse hoiking heavy boxes out from the back of containers. The set up wasnt professional and alot of the boxes were shockingly flimsy for the stuff they had had in them. I started at something like 6am in the morning until 4 or 5pm in the evening, it was hell, after the first couple of hours my arms felt like they were going to fall off.

I kept on at it, but the work in the warehouse sort of dropped off and I found myself not really knowing what to do, I even created my own jobs to do, I hated it there. I was then 'poached' by one of the other advisors who then sent me to where I am now, working as a contractor for one of the biggest logistics companies. Lots of heavy boxes but my body is used to it (it helps that the boxes are tougher aswell) its been a bit hard going as I've been fasting for the last couple of weeks, sometimes almost dead on my feet but I seem to keep on going.

Dont give up hope, let your body get used it and before you know it you'll be so used to it, you wont even think about it.

Many moons ago, I had a temp job delivering concrete paving slabs to private houses from the back of an HGV 3 flatbed........by hand. After the first day, and about 400 slabs, both my hands were locked in a claw like position, so much so that I couldn't actually drive home until I'd soaked them in hot water for about half an hour,

After about 2 weeks of this, I'd lost a stone in weight, and was starting to develop forearms like Popeye. Did it for 2 months in the end, and it bloody near killed me.

Aye, first 'proper' job I had was at a garden centre near Chester on a shitty £17.50 p/w 'work experience' (i.e slave labour) scheme. 08.00 here's some gloves, 08.01 here's a truck with hundreds of bags of peat on the back, get it unloaded.

Soon learnt to toughen up after that I can tell you.

LOL! Without wishing to re-ignite the recent private/public row

I have noticed a weird irony to our regular RIGHT WING WRONG WING MERSEYSIDE WARZ in that our resident Thatcher is from "managed decline" Liverpool and our resident Jimmy Reid from Range Rover/footballerland Chester...

Fucking Dubbers! Just seen another bloody one. Not your usual ratlook shit, but a fairly new looking Polo, very clean on ATS Cups with stretched tyres. BUT: the thing was almost on the deck, and the driver was fighting the car all the way. At 30MPH. Difficulty keeping in lane, and the thing was banging up and down like crazy. This is what I object to - it cannot be safe.

FUCK OFF man! I've slammed every car I've owned [including my son's Cozy Coupe] and have fitted stretched tyres to all my cars [including my son's Cozy Coupe] and I've never had a problem even when I got stopped by the pigs, they just didn't get it, H8RS. We're so cool and full of tattoos and plaid shirts and shit, stop boging our individuality. LOW'S ARE TEH BEST

Why don't VOSA mount a fucking checkpoint outside McDonalds some Saturday night and take every stretched-tyre dubber twat off the road?

Jeez, I sound like my Dad but it has to be the most retarded fad EVAR.

Not to mention a mod like that would invalidate your insurance etc...

There's one that goes past me every day as I cycle home, X regish Polo, bouncing around everywhere on an averagely maintained B road - at 30. Then again I am used to the magic carpet ride

Of course it's not safe, and the majority I imagine don't declare it to their insurance companies. I saw an AX on ebay a while ago who'd put a Saxo rear axle on with additionally had an anti-roll bar - GR999 FOR OVERSTEER!!! Any regarding the insurance thing, yes they're breaking the law with shit and unsafe mods that endanger themselves, their passengers and others but there really isn't much you can do. Millions of people in this country will drink drive, speed on fake/illegal plates (hello motorcyclists!) not wear a seatbelt or use a phone whilst driving today and 99% won't get caught. You can get away with murder, and literally when you crash and hit somebody.

As much as I hate daft stretched tyres and cut springs is there any cases of them causing an accident? i'd imagine there must be a few.

Fuck knows. Don't most accidents get attributed to excess speed anyway?

The Construction & Use regulations would cover the use of tyres "outside of specification", no?

Like everything, it's not enforced unless you plough into a bus stop full of nuns and orphans...

On a separate grump... the classic car scrapyard photo group on facebook. It was once a group with some interesting photos of rotting classics, the odd contribution from a banger driver of his yard and general classic car paps. Now it gets swamped by a weekly wave of banger trolls who struggle to type without text speak and constantly post provocative photos of what they have raced....
