Hirstometer - another PMSL moment from Hirst..

Somebody told me last night that my local council want to charge people twice the amount to park if their car is more than ten years old..........on enviromental grounds....FFFFFFUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKIIIIIINNNNNNN WHAT....?So do people really believe when I park my older-than-ten-years car, the sky will turn black, the seas will boil, mountains will tumble to the sea....I've just looked out of the window at both our cars, both well over ten years old, and I cant see any pollution dripping off them....I'ts not these silly rules that get me......it's the fact that people actually believe this shit.....

It's simple, the government is happy for people to buy new cars which means loads of CO2 being pumped into the atmosphere. That's because the government get a ****load of VAT when someone buys a new car. People are also willfully ignorant when it suits them. Tell someone that they're saving the world by buying a new car and they'll cheerfully ignore the fact that it'll take forever to make up for the CO2 which was emitted during manufacture compared to their old "gas guzzler".Now personally I don't subscribe to the whole CO2 will be the death of us argument but if people want to make it I'll fight it with logic.

The difference in car parking charges for old/new cars will be made easier to stomach by calling the lower charge a "reduction" for cars less than 10 years old. Of course anyone who complains will be ignored as the changes will be for the good of the enviroment and anyone who disagrees is some sort of incartaion of satan who eats children. However I dont think this will become widespread or even get implemented at all. Just think of all the guff you read about that never actually happens. Its just some junior twat in some poxy office who mentions it at a meeting and gets laughed at/told to make the tea. Before you know whats happening its reported in the press as 100% fact.

Tories have sent me a letter, enc. pre paid reply envelope and a form asking my thoughts on crime, like they give a flying toss. Anyhow, I've given them my views on how theft has affected me, blah, blah, and mentioned a quite outrageous and major crime spree a few years back as I fear the perpetrators could well come back for more quite soon. Thieving bastards had it away with our industries, water, gas, electric, phone, rail, etc.

Absolutely:-"Council leader Alan Connett said comments from the unions and staff meant the council was "not likely to proceed with the two-tier charging system"."It's hilarious the kind of things you can find stashed in the agenda/minutes for council business - the lower-level the better, parish councils are good for some utter waffle. It's a concern that it got as far as the council leader having to comment though.

LITTER!

The amount of litter on the verges of the roads round my neck of the woods is an absolute disgrace.

The council don't seem to be making any effort to get on top of it either.

Once again , on the way to work this morning, the little country lane near me was littered with beer cans , take-away wrappers and even a carrier bag full of some old crap.

I just don't understand how someone can wind down a window and chuck a whole wad of take-away paper and cartons out of the window for somebody else to pick up.

Makes me soooo MAD!!!

Wasn't that started by stealing our milk?

To be fair, it's not the council who drop the litter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBM_MIT9EOM

Littering gives me the fucking hump.....I live in a village on the edge of Dartmoor and the stuff is everywhere, I walk the kids to school and have to dodge broken glass, beer cans and dog shit (I know dog shit aint litter but it still should be picked up). I was walking around one day and spotted a needle in one of the alleyways that crosses an estate, I kicked under the hedge as I was worried a child might have picked it up. The council goons come knocking every now and then, usually around election time, and I raise these concerns every time. Fuck all gets done, sometimes I feel like picking up the shit myself and leaving it outide the council offices......apparently this year is the last for "cheap" council tax as it is set to go up......wankers

Our fantastic disintegrated public transport system. I need to get myself to York to catch a train down to Peterborough to buy a car. I can get out of work at 3pm, so the first bus available to me leaves at about 10 past, and gets me into York at 15:55. The best train is the 15:54 one, it gets me into Pe'erburgh at 17:04; the next one leaves at 16:26 but gets me there at 18:01, and also cost more than twice as much. The next train is the 17:05, which costs the same as the 1554 one, but the next bus after the one that leaves at 1510 leaves at 1725.That's right, 2 hours 15 minutes between buses. And they wonder why I don't use public transport. So I think I'll be throwing the foldy-up bike that I hauled out of a skip into the Cav, drive to the outskirts of York and cycle into the station and hence down to the fens.

I can't decide whether to go to bed. I'm going over to a mates house at 3.30am to join him on what ought to be a rather interesting automotive experience involving his '64.5 Mustang, various other machines and empty London streets. I slept this afternoon for a bit but am also going out later on Sunday too. I'm going to be knackered either way aren't I

What are you buying in PeatBogHorror?

It's sort of Saab-shaped...

Go to bed, you'll feel (slightly) less knackered for it. I always try to get some sleep before the control opens when I'm out marshalling on road rallies.

I'm always not going to bed, to prove to myself I can still do it, like when I was a student. Annoyingly though, I invariably get a migraine a day later and end up vomiting and crying.

+1 for staying up. If I have a kip before having to go out at some stupid hour I invariably feel much more tired than just staying awake. That said, I do start doing the nodding dog once beyond about 6 am.

I think I'm tending towards this view at the moment. Partly it means I'm not running the risk of not waking in time up too. I frequently stayed up all night in the summer on Sat nights when I was younger and then went off to car shows/drag racing on the Sunday.

I need to sort out my sleeping pattern, its monumentally broken.1am is the typical bedtime for me. I used to stay up all night if I was going to Brighton the next day, when they still did direct trains there from Basingstoke. But last time I did that, when I went to Norway, it was a massive bad idea. Probably not helped by flying. Anyway, I need to be up early tomorrow to walk to the station and then get to Weybridge. Im sure ill look back at this time in my life and shake my head. Oh well!

ummm, Barrett = nightshifts. staying up all night is my life.Bramms, what the hell was in Bton worth staying up all night for? apart from the hotties, obvsss.

I'll tell you what annoys me... my neighbours' randy Guinea pigs. Every night, just as we are about to drop off to sleep, they start with their infernal squealing, and although I've never dared to look, I'm sure they are going at it like erm... rabbits I guess. One night I will get an air rifle and do a JFK on them. Stupid animals.

Hopefully you're only joshing, but please don't (shoot) if you're not. It's not the animals fault, have a word with the neighbours instead.

Obviously not serious. If I were serious, I'd shoot the neighbours!I think the hutch they are kept in is too small, and they also have a yappy little dog that continually barks at the hutch during the day. Poor guinea pigs.

Cool. If shooting your neighbours was legal I'd have very few people living near me.

probably grumbled about this before, but why the f88k do they still not take any cards at the fookin dartford crossing. Its 2010 and its on the principal route from continental europe! Where TF am I supposed to get £1.50 from between getting off the ferry and arriving there. SORT IT OUT YOU USELESS BASTARDS, I HOPE YOU ALL DIE SOON :x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x

Don't get me started on the Dartford crossing. Am very upset after they opted not to drop the charges 'for environmental reasons.' Oh fuck off! Just admit it's because it's a great source of income and drop this 'oooh, it'll save a fucking rainforest' bollocks! If there was an alternative, then I wouldn't mind so much but your only alternative is to go the other way around the M25 or stay at home.If they dropped the toll booths, I bet traffic congestion would ease instantly. That'd be a lot better for the environment. Cocks.

???????????? do I need to say anything else??

Posted Image £1450?? I think you were being fair with three ton! It right pisses me off when people add the cost of getting it home to the value of something, like sticking it on a transporter adds value to it! Also, if it needed £250 to get it through the test more than two years ago, what's it gonna need now??
