I think my mouse problem may be sorted. Pretty sure I only had one here. I picked up a bag with some bread in it and the little bastard jumped out, from quite high up. No parachute. It did give the floor a bit of a whack. It scurried off, but have not seen or heard it since. Hopefully the shock of it hitting the floor gave it a shock and killed it. Was quite looking forward to using those splatter traps.

R1152 Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Fucking bollocks. The E60 has entered a permanent FTP state, showing "transmission fault" as soon as the selector lever is put into "D", even with the engine off. Reverse engages fine and smoothly. So I've had to cancel tomorrow's work, which has immediately cost me £420. However, a mate sent me a YT link to cheer me up, which has been posted at

Coffee pod machines are an environmental blight and I never saw the attraction of a drink that costs over a fiver, seemingly comes with more options than a BMW price list, is more often than not served by an abject, overfamiliar twat and is a drink guaranteed to make your breath smell. I tried to repair one of those machines once. They operate at a pressure that is dangerous IMO; the one I was asked to repair had a blockage that simply blew apart any new pipes and I couldn't locate the blockage either. crad and Remspoor 2

The same could be said for about 90% of the technology sold in the western world these days. I don't think there's anything wrong with a company noticing a niche in the market and exploiting it. Again, how is that any different from a huge amount of other bullshit that is for sale these days? I thought he made a fair point, stating that no-one needs one of these and that the vast majority of the bollocks that it offers is exactly that.. bollocks. But that it also does actually function and do what it says on the tin. Completely impartial really. myglaren 1

Talbot Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 As I said. a huge amount of things are un-necessary. Do you carry a phone? We coped just fine without them before they were invented. How about a car? Humans managed without them for thousands upon thousands of years. Have central heating in your house? Completely un-necessary really. And calling Techmoan an "Tech obsessed twat" seems a little harsh. He's doing reviews of both modern and vintage technology. If you don't like it, why the living fuck are you watching it? There's about a gajillion far more vacuous and wasteful youtube channels out there. Absolutely any and all resources applied to Gaming are clearly utterly pointless, and yet it's a billion-dollar industry, using huge amounts of power and natural resources. At least this mug actually has a function (albeit a completely ridiculous one) Also, given the silly number of cups of tea I manage to let go just cold enough to not be able to drink, and hence then go and make a new one, I wonder what the break-even point is for the number of cups of tea one of these would *prevent* me having to re-make to actually mean I'm reducing power consumption. 6 months worth of use? Maybe a year? And no. I could never bring myself to buy a mug that needs bluetooth and can have it's firmware updated. Especially not for that price. It's likely a complete waste of resources for nothing tangible. However, it's not my place to dictate what other peoples' opinion should be, nor am I going to label anyone in a derogatory manner just because they mine crypto. Some people have made a lot of money out of crypto currency. Mind you some people have made a lot of money from a lot of other processes that use precious resources. Crypto is no different to gaming really. A lot of people drive less than a mile to go to the shops / take children to school / get a takeaway etc.etc. Is that more or less wasteful than a mug that keeps you drink (not necessarily coffee) hot? How about someone who buys a new car every year? Or a new washing machine? Or any other white goods that humankind has lived without for thousands of years. There's some remarkably judgemental comments happened in the last few posts. Opinions are great, but when it becomes mud-slinging at anyone who doesn't share your opinion, that's a step too far. You might have a poor opinion of Techmoan, but he has over a Million subscribers, so clearly some people enjoy the content he puts out. Hell, the videos that Colin Furze puts out are all UTTERLY un-necessary, and could be argued are a complete and utter waste of natural resources. He has over ten million subs. Your opinion is not shared by some other people. Doesn't make them WRONG, it just makes them DIFFERENT. Stanky 1
Bazfr69 Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Techmoan is a great YouTuber imo, his restoration videos are fascinating to a layman like me and he freely admits the frivolous nature of some of the stuff he reviews. His recent video on Lemmy’s fruit machines a while ago is excellent. Talbot, Remspoor, Craig the Princess and 1 other 4
