GT6 i bought a couple of months back. Was planning on getting a 4x4 as i do a lot of mountain biking and need to carry a lot of camping gear in it (have just got back from several days of mud, floods, gales and hailstones in Wales), but had a moment of madness and bought the most impractical car i could lay my hands on.

The Scirocco. This is likely to go soon as i am after an estate car maybe a Merc W124 for the mountian biking, but i have become quite attached to it as despite being slower than almost every other car on the road, i just love tootling about in it with Def Leppard blasting out of the stereo.

Stupid Ford design thermostat housing involving steel threads and ally housing. Will have to have it drilled out cos I can't find another one (even the spares engine bought for the timing cover didn't have one). Can't believe what replacing a water pump involves! I do miss driving her though.....

Mine did the same thing, pissed me off immensly when it broke! I drilled it out and found a spare bolt long enough to pass right through and put a washer and nut on, not quite as good as new but does the job and it wont cause problems again! The other two bolts came out fine so on reassembly I painted the threads with copper grease to try to stop it seizing again in future.
Sounds like a plan!

What motor is it Fred? I've got 2 Sierra 2.8's if one from those would fit?
It's a cologne, the same engine as in the Sierra innit?
Yep, have you a pic of the offending bit? i'll be down where the engines are tomorrow and i'll remove one if it's the right thing :)

This brick is a recent addition and was bought to replace the black Volvo. Manuals are better on fuel and its a better candidate for an LPG conversion.

That caff name is ace. i remember in Worthing once there was a shoe shop called Gejay Shoes. Its painted on now, but someone once removed the E&J on in Geejay and the S off shoes and made it spell 'Gay Hoes'. Genius, although you had to feel sorry for the poor shop owner who had to pay for the sign to get painted on as they had knackered the letters in doing so. Hopefully the comedy aspect of it lighened the pain a bit.

I don't ave the bit here, but if nothing can be done with it I will get back to you. That having said, I have the same engine in the Mk1 crewcab, so might be tempted to take you up on it.

Ta! The S1 was a barn find but unfortunately I wasn't the finder! It's been in a shed since 1977 (so before many on this thread were built) but is all original and all there which is a big WIN with these. It's currently sat as a rolling chassis, the bulkhead is all painted now and the sole bit of welding needed is being done next week.Has to be done for July - it's our wedding car 8)

I was thinking that as well. Some really nice stuff been posted so far.

Villa Alfisti is currently a shite-free zone (unless you include an eight-year-old 156 :) ) mainly due to lack of space for an extra vehicle(s) so I enjoy seeing the great selection of cars that you own between you. I wouldn't even attempt to single any out, they all have something. Keep this thread going, it may just give me the push to try and make enough room for something small and shite. :)

Thanks for compliments. Wheels are nice but need a good refurb. Am totally loving it. Have had people coming up and talking to me about it everywhere i go. Which is ace. Saying stuff like 'I used to have one of those, dont know if i would be able to get into it these days' and so on. I agree, i pulled a muscle in my groin getting out of it the other day. I was a lot younger when i owned my last GT6. And thanks to Volksy its actually running. Was having difficulty with the duff electronic ignition i had bought, and it was soooo long since i had set up the points on a car i had not set them when they were open and could not get the bugger running.

This one pops up in my 'hood regularly, it does look loooow indeed!

So if I ever get one, I guess I should do it now I'm still youngish and fit...

Edit: blast, (most) Triumphs are even more expensive then I thought...

I keep perving over J-tin on e-bay. Was bidding on a 82 Celica a while back, but really would like an old Datsun. Too much other stuff to worry about at the moment though.Anyhow i am procrastinating on t'interweb instead of working on my Imp. Oh, and those lights on the Astra F really do look good. Normally modding cars of that age can look tacky and so on, but they really are quite nice. Its very understated and just improves the appearance.Sorry, procrastinating again.

Theres is a simple prescription to solve such difficults, take an excessive measure of alcohol and an evening on ebay seems to work a treat for many, before you know it your front garden will look like the onslowes from whatever that tv programme was with a dead avenger and a festering cortina in many different colours!Morris
