Blimey, a Polonez Truck Roy. Didn't actually know Trucks were exported this late. :o

Nice find!

Just got word that a haul of free assorted Polonez parts was dropped off for me by a retired mechanic who helped me a bunch with the Fiat. That's the nice part about owning (post) commie chod in a post commie country. So many people have hoards of parts they're happy to get rid of cluttering up their cellars and garages. :D

There's also a bunch of stuff not visible in photos, like a new catalytic converter, oil pump and water pump. :D

That's firmly in the "too much for me" territory. :(

I'm currently pretty broke. :(

I hope I've not posted this before, but gotta love the clock on the Polonez. FSO made damn sure the car was just like a Roller and the clock was the loudest thing inside the car. :D

Good night sweet prince.

The Polonez is now officially done for the year. Can’t help but feel sad. :(

In the spring, once you've cut through the brambles and pulled back the sheet you may be very lucky and find it's turned into a Warsawza...

I would take either one.

That is unlikely but would increase the value immensely. ;D

Went out to fill the car up one last time before winter. This was a nearly cold start with no choke. Very chugga chugga.

Is there any love for the Fiat Cinquecento or does the 126 steal the limelight?

My school did an exchange with one in Poznan, I first went in year 8 which would have been 1991.

Seemed to 13 year old me that nearly every car was a 126.

Went again 2 years later and there were lots of new Cinquecentos around.

Are there many still around in either general use or enthusiast hands?

A search on allegro.pl turns up a couple for <1000zl, seems a bargain compared to 15-20000 for a 126p?

Cinquecentos are still seen as just regular chod. Sportings and very early CCs (badged as FSM Cinquecento) are going up in value, but other than that there's little love for them. Nobody wants a base 700 these days unless it's to nick its shell for some amateur rallying.

I've not been here in a decent while, so I thought an update would be in order.

The Polonez is still crap (as it's always been) but I'm keeping it for at least another year so hopefully I can drive it over for FOTU 2022. FOTU 2021 is definitely not happening, which is really unfortunate.

As bonus, here's a photo of the Polonez with a mate from the same factory:

If you don't take the FOTU22 trophy with that, there's no justice...

Well if it's going to FOTU 2022, then I've got time to save some pennies in case you do come to sell it.

Would be quite nostalgic for you as I’ve just discovered one of the rear window frames leaks quite badly in a car wash. 😭

What a way to relive your youth - buy the vehicle you nearly drowned in from just going through a car wash 😂

Not been here in a while and I don’t want to spam up the general threads, but here are a few photos of the Fiat that I’ve taken recently. Both it and the Polonez are alive and well. :D

The Polonez on what's probably one of its last outings of the year. Still as crap as ever. ;D

Funny innit. I had a McLaren P1 pass me earlier - If I saw that parked next to the Fiat or FSO, I know what I'd be checking out

I'd like to officially announce that spring has sprung. The FSO is out of storage as of yesterday. :D

And it's just as horrible as I remembered it. ❤️

Not posted here in a few months, but not much has changed. Both the FSO and the Fiat are still with me and are doing fine. The Fiat saw a little paint to take care of a minor rust spot the other week:

Have also taken this opportunity to revert the door sills to the original black rather than body colour.

Glad I managed to get in a proper drive in the FSO before I'm off on vacation late next week. Took some photos too. ;)

Doing some grave digging to resurrect this thread, but may as well keep everything in one place.

Both the Fiat and the FSO are still with me. The Fiat is currently stricken with a dead (like broken dead, not just flat) battery and a shot wheel bearing and will likely stay that way until spring. This means that I get to finish out the season in the FSO. I almost convinced myself that it's time to sell it on the other week, but I've been out on a couple of enjoyable drives in it since and have changed my mind for now.

Somebody left a note on my FSO asking to buy it. I think I have to sleep on giving them a call back.

In the meantime:
