Morning Crew.

Currently on route from Le France to go have a look at a Gold coloured, Tan interior motor.

Left a deposit two weeks ago and the seller was ace and wasn’t bothered about me swanning about for two weeks.

Was made in the same year as me (1984) so seems like a match made in heaven.

But we will see..........

Easily comparable with my trip through the Tyne Tunnel to North Shields to collect my Fozzie.

Keep us posted. Any hints?

Bloody hell I know Farnham Royal like the back of my hand. Used to play football when I was a wee boy in Farnham Park for Slough Town FC Juniors on a Sunday morning!!

We are rebels we are Slough wahy wahy!!

Gonna get there tonight have a kip in some fine establishment and go in the morning to check it out.

Pictures look bob on but you don’t know till up close and personal.

Then a short two hour drive home from there to home if all is well.

It’s what you will call a mid size exec motor. But got wind down windows.

Been on the autoroute at some good speed with the cruise set with hardly anyone in sight making good process. Got a Flexiplus ticket for the Eurotunnel as well, so can rock up and go on the next available me train when I get there instead of a set time.

Having a few technical problems with the laptop. Which would boot up? Resorting to the phone to get some insurance quotes.

Got some cucumber and hummus snacks which were mouldy . Plus a cheese and pickle sarnie in between two sheets of ply which was rank from the lobby before boarding the train.

Very classy! From France, you say? With mileometer? Is it a US import?

No just been in France for a few weeks swanning about and it was located at home. Just a couple of hour drive home now.

Looking forward to seeing something a bit classy driving round derby for a change. Having driven through today it was awash with signs of PCP.

Very nice indeed. Hard to beat on old Merc, as long as they aren't full of rust. If they are, buy a MIG welder and work out how to use it. That's what I did with my 190D.

So it’s home.

Drives lovely.

Was owned for 27 years by the same family then a couple of recent owners who didn’t have it long. The last had the seat base repaired at Mercedes which wasn’t cheap.

Right material but obviously a bit brighter than the original.

Had loads of history which is nice.

It’s in good nick but no means perfect.

The front jacking points have some recent black paint splashed over them. But apart from that looks amazing rust free.

Options it has are elec sunroof, automatic trans, front armrest and metallic paint.

It doesn’t start right on the button without a bit of throttle when warm.

Have ordered a big service kit so will see if that can cure it.

These are repo number plates from the originals but the font looks off to me? What should it have?

Wow!

I have a W123 230E + I’m currently taking it easy in the south of France = you’re my Autoshite twin.

someone's done that with an online plate maker and used a wanky font. Definitely change them as they're so obviously 'show plates' some jobsworth MOT tester or copper will have you for them.

https://www.fancyplates.com/buy-plates/uk-show-plates/

Use this and use one of the 'UK pre 2001' fonts (a or c might look good).
If they're in keeping with the car nobody tends to ask questions. I like mine plain with no borders or bottom text, as often was the way in the 80s.

Love it ?

You might have a buyer here when you want shot of it ?

Ideal combination: MBtex seats, 230 injection, original wheel trims, sunroof, wrapped in JRW

Woah. If the pictures don't lie, that is in exceptionally good shape. Certainly worth the trouble and expense to maintain and preserve. May it serve you well!

Just found the July 6 eBay auction.  59 bids !

Was at Beaconsfield dealer

Any idea what the seat cost to repair?

Only reason I ask is that I have a brand new pair of genuine Mercedes front seat covers, and I'm wondering what sort of value they have.

Posted

Is that Silbergrün?  It's hard to tell from the photos.  If so I have a bottle of touch-up paint you're welcome to if you want it - I bought it for the W115 thinking that might be the colour it'd been resprayed, but it wasn't.

Was £800 quid for the seat repair!!

WOW,that's a lot.

Pretty sure mine are the same colour as those ones.

I think it’s champagne although I forget the exact name, my old s123 was the same shade.
If your after spangly bits you can swap the bulkhead grilles for the earlier chromed items if your not obsessed with originality.

Yeah champagne metallic.

Struggling to setup apply CarPlay on this though.

Done a good few more miles on it this morning. It needs a good dab of throttle on hot starts to get it fired up. Once it’s fired it’s fine. Starts from cold on the button.
