On my first car (1979 Mini 1000 with central instrument pod) I binned the ugly dashboard hard board back panel and replaced it with a bit of light green carpet that my parents had left over.

Agreed. It's awesome. My grandmother had a 1985 Fiesta Ghia with the same head unit (B608COO I know you are out there somewhere).

I once made the end of a sill out of some Solero sticks and some polyfila.
