Roffles are a thing

I've noticed one or two on FB as well.  We've really started something!

They or similar have been going for years, you used to see the actual car being raffled in airport lounges sometimes.

Yeah, but those were/are new exotica, not tragic end-of-life family hacks.

Yeah I've seen them before, mostly in airports. There's a lot more than 59 tickets though, so the autoshite way is definitely superior...

There's plenty on the Facebook motorbikes scene round here. Tool cabinets, bikes, leathers etc.

Chap I work with was spending£250 a month. Makes my randoms on here look tame!

1795 tickets !

If it's that many tickets it must be hard working out a non corruptible way of drawing the Weiner.

Roffles seem popular with banger racers

Is there legals to consider when running roffles ??

Could rofflers get in trouble ?

Yes and no. Unless they are clearly making a profit, the HMRC and gaming commission will just not really care although theyll pretend.

I can only think of one roffle on here which could plausibly have made a profit. Realistically they're a means of limiting loss.

On Facebook there's a company in Warrington who raffle off some seriously seriously nice 2T motorbikes. I think they have about 550 numbers (so must be very profitable for them) and they draw it live using a random computer programme.

I don't trust the Facebook ones though, so many scammers on that bloody market place, I've known people see pictures of their own stuff which was still in their possession advertised for sale by random people, it's ok for a £10 household item or an old tent or something though. On here its a community and people know each other and there is a car to be won at the end of it.

I think car purchase cost to roffle gains I've made a profit a couple of times. If you include money spent on maintenance and repair in between, I'm not so sure I ever have.

It's definitely an unviable model for increasing the amount of money you have.

But then the same could be said for shite ownership in general.

Definitely!

I think the first roffle following the current format was Jim Bell's 305 estate roffle, about 3 or 4 years ago.

Incorrect. The first roffle on here was me to Andy CMS206 for a 850 T5 saloon with a shagged clutch.

In its first incarnation it was a high cost/low risk venture, drawn in the Thunderball rather than bonus ball.

Fucked if I can find the thread like.
