Yeah the two tone colours don't even match the lines of the bodywork...

These 8's have a non-opening boot for 'economy' reasons - the hatch contains the spare wheel. Access to the luggage compartment is through the back door via folding seat backrests. 

It does however have the (optional) heater and wind-up windows - earlier on they were sliding glass like the original Mini.

Ah that explains it  ( I thought you ment a prefacelift one), ford tended to try out new colours on the last few months of out going models. Dunno if other manufacturers did the same?

I know someone with a late MK2 escort 4dr popular that's beige ( can't remember name offhand )  that's not normally seen on them as it's a MK3 escort colour.

Yeah I had one on an N plate.... It was absolute wank with the 2.0 6 cyl.. 520i, slow and shit on fuel....

Had a j reg 520i as well, also slow and shit on fuel. 

I think with a decent engine they'd be ok.
