Jetta GTi is surely the ultimate AS hot non-hatch. Unless they made a Vauxhall Belmont SRi?

Fond memories of four adults, two small kids and a dog going to Blackpool (amongst other places ) back at the start of the 60's in my dad's. His was all blue but Sheffield rather than Donny registered.

I had an Astra B estate in SXi flavour, 1.8i litres of pure power.

When I started at Lucas in Shirley one of the younger managers had one in white, with white hub caps.  Nice company car.  The rear boot spoiler fixed the aesthetics and made it look "cool"

Absolutely. I never had one, but my mate did. It was white with big, red SRi graphics on the sides. At the time, it was half way between tragic and cool
