If a Ford Exploder is too common for you, why not buy its minimally more luxuriois sibling for 850 quid:

Definitely needs saving and not just a back axle donor.

Also wasn't it the Firestone tyres that exploded that gave the Explorer a bad rep?

No, but Eddy has better taste than that 😀

Thank you, but I really don't!  I do rather like that.  Apart from the price, the only real negative for me is that rather grating high-roof moulding.  I'd live with the colour scheme, because at least it isn't grey like everybloodything else.  I'd live with it being the facelift model, because at least it has the 2.3 slant-4 which is the engine I want.  I'd even live with it having a manual gearbox.  But none of that matters.  I can't afford it.  Simples.

I do still enjoy seeing what people find for me though.

Hmm, I just wonder which way round this is going to be registered?

Quelle surprise...Ding dong merrily on high, in Swansea bells are ringing! Fucking hate people who do this shit.

Who wants to shop it before some poor unsuspecting sod buys it, gets pulled and gets bent over by the authorities?

Ready to put a match to the petrol tank too.

Foiled in their disposal plan by the 180's prodigious thirst emptying it.

Yes, it was Firestone tyres failing and some of them had an issue with sudden unintended acceleration where the throttle got stuck wide open resulting in quite a few accidents

ISTR a documentary about it showing some 'secret' Ford footage of a guy trying to stop an Exploder with stuck throttle.

The Firestone issue was caused* by union staff striking but the factory in question employed temporary unskilled staff to produce the tyres and they didn't follow process hence tread separated from carcass.

😲 RHD pre war Kadett! Renamed to Cadet to, I guess, make it seem a bit less German?

Grandad first car was one of these and was RHD too. Not sure how long he had it but had it for a while and was bought at the end of the 1950s and in the summer was fully loaded with people and luggage and driven 550km up to where grandmother came from over the Norwegian mountains. On hot summer days it boiled over on long mountain hills often but it always got them there and back.
