As I understand it, 5% import duty then VAT at reduced rate of 5% if it's over 30 yrs old. Then 55 quid to register it. Should be IVA exempt.

Register it at a Guernsey for a year, then you can bring it in as a personal import, and pay no duty at all. If it was originally U.K. registered, it’ll say so on the Guernsey V5

Wouldn't one need to live on Guernsey for that?

If it’s registered in your name in Guernsey, I think your chances of getting pulled by plod are remote.
