Now this is seriously brilliant, an SN1 kit car!!! This is one you used to see advertised in the old Filby kit car mags, but the ads only ever contained a drawing not a photo of a finished car, leading one to reasonably assume they hadn't got as far as completing one yet!!!! I would love this as a nod to those days of utterly shit kit cars. Goes on a (non-shortened) beetle chassis.

I think this looks pretty cool. Deffo worth chopping up a Beetle for.

Shame he is keeping the driver's door as a memento.

I love the way people trying to sell a shonky old heap with no MoT advertise it as being ideal for track days. Yeah, that bit of paper is just an irrelevance, you don't need any of that nonsense when careering around a circuit at full tilt

I bet this guy gets 100 knocks on the door every day of the week off rigger-booted morons offering him £60 or whatever.

the rust on the car is cosmetic but fair amount and can be easily fixed if u like welding. floor needs attention

Oh aye sounds very cosmetic that does.

It's exactly the other way around.

Only the Baur convertibles had the remains of the tin roof, since they were made by chopping up saloons:

What you see in the ad is mimicking a factory convertible, which were curiously also built by Baur.

I thought these had some sort of mega roll bar effort, is this a saloon thats had its roof lopped off?

I recon so.

He needs to add the words 'structural' and 'integrity' to his limited vocabulary.

I think there were a few semi-official 2002 full convertibles, but that ain't one of them.

The Baur 'convertibles' with the remains of the roof section were semi official. The full convertibles were the ones officially sold by BMW.

Yes, this is a sorry effort to mimick one.

One for the late registrations thread, even if it is a DVLA cockup. It's cheap, if it's as rust-free as it looks it might make a good little project.

computer tells you everything

Did it tell you to put a random phrase in the title to ensure the worst possible chance of anyone clicking on it? Handsome old crate but I distinctly remember the collective opinion being that these were terrible when new. Now it's terrible and old so definitely more desirable.

It definitely needs those naff stickers and badges removing and some original wheels bolting on but there's still something not quite right about this one, can't put my finger on it. Maybe it seems too clean to be true, any self-respecting monty this age should be 50% wob by now.

Its just a shame they weren't able to complete pinching those disgraceful alloys from the Montego imho biscuit tins would be less heinous looking

Posted

In an unrelated pinching alloys story, I nicked the back wheels off my mums Astra CD (as above but a hatch back) in 1993 to get my shagged Golf driver through a MOT.

That Daewoo was defo £325 yesterday, WTF is going on there I dont know.

That little Honda N600 is lush. If I'd won last weeks lottery I'd be on a Ryanair flight out there. I haven't bought a ticket this week so I guess it's staying put.

Even without T&T this is no money at all for a 2CV nowadays. Bit of a hike, mind.
