My business Stephen Hunter Specialist Cars has supplied specialist vehicles since 1997

I do not really know where to start, but I am sure that if you are reading and looking for this model, you will know a great deal more than myself

Huh? Some specialist.

It's unfair to leap to conclusions as regards somebodys IQ, but I'm pretty much sure it's inversely proportional to the number of stupid bits of chrome tat and "V8" stickers they glue on their cars. Stylishness factor:- sub-par.

/\

That (Volvo) keeps popping up in my 'within 25 mile search' thing on eBay. A combination of it not running and the advert being a private listing was enough to scare me off in the end.

Well it didnt scare me off, I bid on it and won it

F-LOL. What are the plans, see if you can get it going then drive it back or just A-frame it or something?

Its only about 15 miles from home with no M-ways required, so I reckon I am gonna try to A-frame it behind my mates LWB transit (should be fun as it has a slippy clutch)

for the sovvz you paid.... this guy wouldn't have had Pikeys Chain-sway it off his drive??

hmm.... mebbies not

bet you would?

Has anyone had any experience of these V6 760 volvos?

I do, good lad for whacking a bid on, was watching that about 3 auctions ago, can't believe it kept getting no bids. Beautiful colour.

It's the old PRV as seen in the Renault 25 and Espace to name a few. Goes with the character of the Vulva really well. Not fast, but will move fairly well when you ask it too, though making you well aware that it's not at all happy about having to go quickly. Sounds bloody nice with the belt driven fan too.

If you do end up scrapping it or breaking it could you PLEASE drop me a pm. Numerous parts I would buy off you including an alternator and rear light cluster :D

I think they have a completely different rear suspension to the 4-cyl ones, does anyone know it thats bo11ox or not?

In my head these 760's are a total lost cause, you've got the thirst of an old carburettor Xj6 or some 70's v8 yank shite, but you get to drive round in a shit-looking Volvo for your trouble of keeping it fed. You don't even get the benefit of looking cool or being able to wink at the lasses or whatever and you can't carry loads of shite round like you can in a wagon. However thats almost reason enough to put up with one for a couple of months. I reckon the PRV V6's shite game is very strong.

It's time for Wuvvum to get a bidder number again.

ACA have another classic auction in three weeks and this look appealing to me

Anybody going ?

I'd be tempted to have a bash at getting it running then booking it in for an MOT and driving it. I expect they're deeply unloved at the mo which just makes them more attractive really.

Looks nice trig and OSF tax would surely mean it's a appreciating asset. That said knowing nothing of the values of these it sounds steep for a fairly clean yet slightly crusted arch old onion.

What's with the tabs on the rear seats? Looks like they could be pulled down though not sure why one would bother.

60/40 split rear seat on these for access to the mahoosive boot. Came on all the top-rung Onions, yet is £400+ on most German saloons...

Not quite true. The Volvo from 88 to 91 had the B280 engine, is different to the earlier PRVs is one important way. The weakness of early PRVs is that any lack of maintenance causes sludge to block the spray hole in the rocker arms, which causes rocker arm wear, which kills the camshaft(s).

The B280 had modified heads which create a bath of oil the cams dip into and splash around, so the cams don't wear.

They also have an oddfire crankshaft making them silky smooth rather the offbeat noise that my 604 makes

That's pretty much spot on. a 760 saloon with the V6 rather than the turbo redblock is a hard sell in anyone's book.
