Just been and bought this, collecting Tuesday

If you remember a couple of weeks back a mate had a FTP in his Focus Estate.

 

This poor old shed is it's replacement. 

 

To be honest its not a bad old thing, load of stuff replaced over the last few years, brakes (pipes, discs, pads, drums etc) Alternator, exhaust, battery etc etc.

 

It's a bit tatty round the edges, and reeks of smoke. the old fella selling it has had it for 11 years and has been told to give up driving. 

 

It has an alarming wheel wobble at low speeds, so gonna swap some of the wheels around when I collect, and my mate has a replacement set on his old one. 

 

But if it lasts him till the MOT expires it'll have paid for itself.

at last! a smily face festa ghia with a clean mot history!

 

dunno much about the yamaha engine used in these, 1400 in this case.

 

change the oil regular, and use the right grade and i guess these are ok? and there is a timing belt to deal with too.....

 

don't like the asking price much. but if this is aclean as it sounds i can see us changing the lexus for it.

 

 

Don't think these had Yamaha engines, the only ones (that I recall) were the (earlier, Mk3) two stroke police cars and they (Yam) also had a hand in the Puma 1.7 engine. Like the man in the built up shoes though, I stand to be corrected.

Winter Project For Viewers In Scotland

 

VW SNOW TRAC - ARCTIC TRACKED VEHICLE - UNFINISHED PROJECT - PRICE REDUCED

 

Hi Guys                                  

PRICE REDUCED AS I NEED THE SPACE - REALISTIC OFFERS CONSIDERED

Something completely different - A SUPER RARE CLASSIC VEHICLE.

This is an Artic Snow Trac which has a 1600 cc air cooled VW Beetle Engine.

I bought this a few years ago and have done all the hard work with //  new sprockets  //   drive train  //   engine rebuild and a new paint job as well as being fitted with light bars and  beacons etc all ready for operating in bad weather.

All that is left to do to finish the project:-    wiring loom  (which is over half complete) //   drop the engine back in //  fit the wiper arm blades and wipers   //  fit the rubber flooring  //  fit drivers seat  //  fit bench seats //  fit purpose made exhaust   //

All told there is about several weekends of work and shes done and ready to go.

THERE IS NOTHING FURTHER TO BUY OR SOURCE  ALL THE PARTS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE RESTORATION ARE INCLUDED

These are incredibly rare vehicles - try and find one. This particular Snow Trac is road registered and has a V5 from the DVLA and registration plate - E525 ETN - . It was originally in the Falklands during the war and was used by the British Army - see last photo.

This would be an ideal exhibit / show vehicle at VW shows like VolksFest etc as there are just none of these vehicles about.

The last Snow Trac sold for £8000 about a year ago  ( http://hmvf.co.uk/topic/38011-for-sale-1977-aktiv-fisher-snow-trac-st4/ ) and was not as nice as mine,  so i am looking for offers around £10,000 - as this really is an appreciating asset and a super rare classic vehicle.

i can deliver if required for £1 per mile (Google Maps).

I am only selling as the Snow Trac has been like this for over a year now and i just do not have the time to finish it and need the space  - hence the sale.

This is a genuine sale and viewings are most welcome - we are near Worksop in Notts

I think they had some part in the 1.25?

i thought that both the 1250 and 1400 ohc engines in th elate smiley festers where yamaha (or at least developed by them) engines?

 

again i may be wrong. it has happened before, in 1997 i recall......
