The car is for sale as spares/repairs because the MOT has expired

The car does start and run but not for long

Viewing is Welcome at:

Whitepost Garage

If I had a garage and offered a car like this, I'd be ashamed shitless.

Without wanting to frighten you, the reason my Saab has a replacement box is that a leak occurred between the ATF and the coolant, resulting in the box trying to use water as transmission fluid. I'm sure Stan would have thought of that though...

Stan pointed out some sort of heat exchanger box (where the ATF and the coolant circulate nervously around each other) that lives behind the front bumper, but we couldn't see a leak in that. Also, the pool that forms under the left side of the car is some way back under the front subframe.

For those of you who want a lame slouch:

Yeah, it figures.

180 bhp is adequate, but not with that disgraceful 3HF ZF slusher.

And not my 7 grand either. I paid 150 quid for mine and it was a manual with an LSD. That was 1998 however. Not that the E3 is any better now than int was then, it's just got more valuable. They're a nice car though.

180 bhp is adequate,

No 3.0 S will ever be adequate as long as a 3.0 Si exists.

A 3.0 S is a lit candle. A 3.0 Si is a lit stick of TNT.

That's reassuring - for some reason I misread you as it being a mystery leak (low fluid but no puddle)

I really want this but I'm just not brave enough. My old CX was such a money pit - and massively unreliable.

Granted, that one was a total nail, but still...

See also Dollywobbler.

My boss has a brand new one in 1990 and he let me drive it at 17 when I just passed my test.

Scary as fuck.

That was also reliable as Dingo babysitter.

Still fancy one though. Fortunately age has taught me that most old crocks are best enjoyed whilst belonging to someone else.

It's arguably* less of a mystery since the puddle became more apparent after coming from Chevrons. That and the fact that I lost all drive five miles from arrival at Chevrons but, when I poured in all the fluid I had left, drive was restored.

"CAGE LTD t/a Margin Cars"

Met this bloke tonight, seems a decent person, more like one of us. He was laughing about the bodge on the Mondeo too. It looks like household filler!

Check out the quality repair on one of the other cars in the yard.
