Awful pictures but looks interesting.

Its last roadtrip was in the early 1970's, when it was used for a family trip to Europe, driving through France, Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstien, Italy finishing in Venice. Rare in those days!

In need of restoration for promo work or as an installation.

Its for sale with a convertible Rover V8 (see add no. )

Beakers do turn up now and again so a rear bed or whatever should turn up sooner or later. Worst case, I know a couple of chaps in Portugal who could probably assist ;)

Nah, just build a tray back for it, Aussie ute style.

There are plenty of plans/drawings available if you are handy with the angle grinder and the MIG.

Is that Wuvvum’s old CX Safari?

No idea. Is Wuvvum around?

Checked my Shitefest 2016 photos - it is indeed Wuv’s old one.

I really, really need to get out more.

….I really, really need to get out more.

Why not do it in a CX?

Probably some dealer will buy it, and then try to flip it for about four times the price.

Can run on LPG. Needs a water pump:

£1295. If the pump is all that it needs, that sounds like a bargain.

Good Safaris/Familiales seem to be five to six grand.

I really want this but I'm just not brave enough. My old CX was such a money pit - and massively unreliable.

Granted, that one was a total nail, but still...

I had a brand spanking new one and it was the same.

They are as scary as Lincolnshire.

It's one of those "you'll never know" things. The chance will pass you by and you'll never know, but you'll have saved* £1295.

When I wanted one, it took two-and-a-half years before time and available money actually agreed to co-operate to produce a reasonably decent* example.

*before the transmission fluid started disappearing. It's definitely a leak from somewhere. Stan Platts thinks that auto gearbox wasn't blessed with a filter, so there's nothing to change except fluid; dunno if he's right, but he's spent half a lifetime with CXs....

Without wanting to frighten you, the reason my Saab has a replacement box is that a leak occurred between the ATF and the coolant, resulting in the box trying to use water as transmission fluid. I'm sure Stan would have thought of that though...
