Sort of a metaphor for the Armed Forces....

Much later build but that looks exactly the same as the one my Dad hired when we went to Orkney on holiday.  I was about 12.  He was promised a brand new Renault but got a 13 year-old Maestro.  This was in 2000.  That was high-level shite and you've just brought it all back...

Do I dare tell Dad there's a Maestro for sale 20 minutes from him?

I like these, particularly the 1984/5 ones. They're like an E24 6 Series but reliable and properly made.

Bloody hell no.  It's a project, sat on his driveway for two years, and he wants HOW MUCH for it???  It isn't even a V8.  It's worth bridge money at best.  I'd far rather go and get that red Proton out of the scrappy by me, and here speaks someone who incurably loves American cars!

You're thinking of Maestros, which used a bought-in VW 084 gearbox.

The (early) Bini used a PSA MA gearbox, also used in the Rover R8/R3.

Both were complete shite, even in the cars they were originally designed for.

Sounds like a verse from a reggae song.

Isn't that the ultimate Rover 75?

Big V6 auto, 56k, Giffer Racing Green, Connie SE, GREEN STEERING WHEEL, Personal Line Leather.... oooh...

In years to come when they are all gone this spec will be available on Internet photos only.  Like an old painting, long destroyed.

Did I mention the green steering wheel?

All the more reason to buy both

Thanks to you lot, I pick up a nice BRG Rover 820 i on Monday. As seen earlier in this thread...

Just don't post any mint beige Maestros or Montego adverts.

A green one?  How, when there's such a lovely blue one within the family? ;)
