eBay tat volume 3.

I think some people (me included) regard the noise of a VW flat 4 as an assault on the ears where to others it is mechanical music.

I had occasion the other week, to travel in a 1970's beetle. I'd (MUCH) rather travel in an allegro with a nice mildly tuned  1275.

A mate had one of these about 25 years ago, he put it into Milton Keynes Car Auction, who left it outside and somebody stole the wheels off it. The auction paid him his reserve and eventually found some tiny narrow steels that fit and used it to tow shit no-runners through for years, after 10 years or so they replaced it with a 504 pickup and it got sold. Could even be this one as it was orange and beige!

Lovely looking things these.... and perfectly driveable if you're under 5ft 6 and 10 stone.... £750 start, no Mot but seller claims won't need a lot. Hmmmm.....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-fiat-x1-9-bertone-1500cc-5-speed-unfinished-project-43k-2-owner-car-/282632787836?hash=item41ce3a177c:g:li4AAOSwDQJZqFe-orly_owl.jpgs-l1600.jpg

From the same "barn" as the Moggy.... Princess Anne...etc etc http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1969-CLASSIC-RELIANT-SCIMITAR-GTE-Ex-race-car-V8-Rover-Essex-V6-barn-find-/132305981989?hash=item1ece0d1225:g:BqMAAOSwwe9Znytm £1750

and clearly it needs a paint job

No it doesn't.

You can have the car as is, with Essex engine and manual box, OR....
You can have the car WITHOUT Essex engine, manual box and prop shaft, BUT with a genuine 46k mile Rover 3.5 V8 engine instead, removed from a P5B Coupe.
The choice is yours, if you opt for the Rover engine option, it will not be fitted obviously, is is for you to do.
With the Rover engine being lightweight compared to an Essex, this combination would make an excellent track day car and street sleeper. I can put you in touch with a friend who has an SD1 manual box as well to make it even more fun, or I have an auto box available for the Rover V8 if you would want that optio
