That number plate advert is probably for real. "Year" plates are popular in NI among Spides (chavs) who've just had their first brat, culchies and dickheads from Bangor.

When I think of what a 500 quid car got me 15 years ago (a right heap of shit) it's amazing you can get any car at all never mind something like this for the £500 nowadays.

I know. My first car was £1000 in the late 1980s when it was quite a chunk of cash. And it was a right dog, but that's all you could get for the money

£500 might get you more car nowadays, but it's more of a gamble. £500 used to get you a shitbox that would somewhat work in most ways, and would generally keep moving, needing £40 and £50 here and there. Nowadays a fancy £500 motor is scrap if you lose the key, or it needs a cat on for the MOT.

constantly offer THE BEST Astro's and Safari vans available, and I can honestly say every single van I have at present is... in condition & value for money.... WELL above nearly all the remaining vans currently offered.

I know this because I do all the hard work for you, I travel the country viewing what's available, many times walking away from vans seemingly high quality when in the flesh they prove to be anything but.

Fucking hell, this guy deals in these things for a living, he must meet stetson-wearing line-dancing nutcases every day of the week in his line of work

That's true but they did rust more furiously than newer cars, which is how most of my old cars met their fate. I still treated all my sub 500 munters from 15 years ago like every day was their last. I still find it weird putting more than 20 quid a time in a car incase I need to weight it in and I loose the petrol money.

I object. With the price of scrap being so high, and with modern tat being filled with so many gadgets, I think it's easier than ever to recoup that outlay if it does go tits up. I know for a fact that if my £450 Vel Shatitself tomorrow there'd be profit in its demise.

That Piazza has been around for ages.

I contacted the seller about it sometime last year (maybe September) and he was unable to tell me whether the car was currently even tested as it was being stored elsewhere .... The advert appears to be reposted every few months, I think the T&T expired last June :(

these MGZ*D affairs are making more and more sense lately, espacially now that they are completely out of fashion.

I don't know a lot about them but I would guess that the engines are some kind of perkins thing derived from a central heating boiler that was once accidentally fitted to a montego? In which case they will happily consume veg oil/paint thinners/thatchers eyeglass grease and takemassive amounts of boost whilst just becoming noisier and noisier but never actually packing up? Or are they just shit?

Cavcraft will definitely give you £600 for your Micra against a KIA Sedated 2.9TD at the full screen price. T&C apply, most of them will be made up on the spot.

I had a 620 sdi years ago and it was alright when it was going but it kept flagging up engine management warning lights and running like a total bag of shit. I ended up chopping it in, in the end as it was so woefull. It was only 4 years old a the time too. It could have just been a bad car but it's put me off them.

Nooooo. There's no Cambridgeshire here. It was an Austrian lump. Made in Austria it was.

A Roverised donk from the Bavarian Motor Works.

The MG Z stuff floats my boat as well, especially the ZT. Always liked 'em. I can see a ZT CDTi being high on my to - own list in 2013 now that they're coming into my favourite price bracket of worth sod all.

Slim pickings on copart just now but I did see this very clean Metro with hardly any damage. 35k on the clock and the 1275cc engine. Its been bid up to £325 already, no doubt by the OMGMINI brigade to rob the low miles engine and weigh the rest in. Shame.

I had a Herald 12/50 a few years back and the heater was utterly hopeless. looks like Triumph improved it a bit on the 13/60 model

Bentley Mulsanne for a grand anyone? doesnt seem much damage on this either. Check out the red seats!! Where the hells the gearstick though? are these things column shift?

Yep, pretty sure they're column shift, iirc a sort of indicator stalk type affair.

Is it an auction, as there is surely a hell of a lot of money in parts alone sitting there and a grand seems a massive bargain?

I think those bentleys are 3 on the tree yankee doodle dandy style. That newer Arnage I was in recently had a normal auto box and the newer RR's don't have a gear selector at all as changing gear's peasants work.

Nope. Rover L Series in the ZR and ZS, BMW M47TU in the ZT (and some Freelanders)

Edited due to spaz. Need some Croma in my life.

:lol: I'm all over the shop! Confused myself with the dizzler on the previous page, then the ZT over, jumbled up into a mush. Must stop posting into the early hours with drink in hand

Apologies to all concerned!
