One for the "cars that make you look like an obnoxious filthy rich twat" thread.

Oh, and WANT, of course.

Did you buy it then? I see it has already gone.

I am looking for a stop-gap second car and looking for shonky Volvo 240 estates or London Taxis so obviously this has caught my eye, I know that the standard steel rots like hell so I assume the coachbuilt will have the added bonus of a rotten ash frame as well.

Don't be fooled by the string

How, exactly, would I be "fooled" by string?

it's holding the cab together in places

NSS - and there I was thinking it was just a fun hipster adornment.

It's also on Car & Classic for £16.5k, (listed in April) I'm slightly concerned as it seems too cheap with a BIN of £14.5k, a standard steel is rarely under £20k these days. On the plus side it lacks all the complications you find on a modern one, on the downside the spares are not going to be Silver Shadow levels of cheap. I'm tetering on the "Sod it, what's the worst that can happen, just buy it and get it out of your system and punt it on in a few months, hopefully without losing (too) much" and the "What the hell are you even thinking of that for, it'll be a pile of poo and will sit there broken haunting you until it either rots away or you sell it for peanuts"

I never used to be this indecisive, I want it and can afford* it; well technically I can find the money to pay for it, but should have more sense and get the windows on the house done, the insulation done, plus a myriad of other sensible things instead.

This reminds me of 2010 when Brown went to the Palace to tender his resignation , he was driven from Downing Street in a black X350, he left the Palace in an X300 possibly this one, although I thought it was even older.

With typical shit timing by Jaguar, Cameron travelled from the Palace in a different X350 filmed every inch of the way by helicopters etc. Jaguar delivered the new shape XJ 2 days later missing out on all that free coverage.

Cavcraft, I'm surprised you don't need some sort of counseling to help you get over the amount of crap ads you have to wade through in order to bring us classics like that Toyota Hiace.

The fact that the poster couldn't even spell Toyota correctly when presumably it's written on the van somewhere makes me concerned for his mental health.

You've just summed up what I was thinking.  I could actually muster the readies (at a real push) - and part of me says "it wouldn't do any worse than putting it into whatever rip-off financial organisation/stuffing cash under the mattress etc would do - and you'd get sooo much joy from it" - and the the other part kicks in with it dissolving into a festering heap like most of my attempts (like you describe).

I am in love with that Bentley.

I am a fucking immigrant.

And you Brits will not get rid of me before I owned a Bentley.

Or died.

Whichever comes first.

Your mileage may vary, terms and conditions apply.

Go through the pics, there's a bonus shot of Angry Wife reflected in one!  "I told you Brian, you're not having any more of those big ugly things!"
