I can't ever recall hearing a good story about buying a 'restored' scooter from India etc

£1,099 seems ace (shipping on top) but I bet it's shit

'Chassis and other body parts such as leg shield, panels, footboards etc are nicely dented and we make a rough fixing of bodyline to check the cemetery.'

Fabulous, you can't make this sort of stuff up!

I have a plan that involves buying a nice Peugeot J7 or J9 van off Leboncoin this year. That one fails on the 'nice' criteria but its good to know there's the odd one knocking about

Yeah, then whack a price tag on it, that signals to all the world, that you think everyone except you pulls up his trousers with a pair of pliers.

Nothing beats a get rich quickly scheme that doesn't involve a lot of work and effort.

That was 1500 euro when it was in France he snapped it up whilst I was trying to work out the costs of bringing it over. He has had to do some work though by the sound of it so not all profit

I want to spend about 1500-2000€ on a presentable-looking panel van, ideally a J7 but a J9 would be ok too

I don't understand the bit about pulling my trousers up with pliers???

That's good, I thought it was just me...

These will be a laugh when there cheaper.

Oh for sure, that engine is brilliant purely for it's daftness. The market for the Toe-rag can't be that much different than the Range Rover or whatever other pointless school run SUV so quite why Audi thought anyone would need a 750 Nm V10 running on diesel I don't know. They stuck a V12 TDI in an R8 body a couple of years ago and they were quite keen on the idea of actually putting it into production. Could you imagine how hard it would pull from hardly any revs?

Remember the 5th gear they used on of those v10 towrags to tow a 747? It looks like a lot of car for the money but the big fuck off tow bar makes me thing it may have had a hard 150,000 miles. I'd love the Phaeton with this motor in it.

Would it have been though? 750 Nm of torque is a SHIT TON of power so it may well have been under stressed for the task it was given. That's how Americans defend V8's producing <200bhp anyway.

I completely forgot about these w8 passats.

Wonder what there like?

I like them just because of the odd layout but they're not that fast or powerful (the 4.2 audi v8 of the same vintage put out 30-40 more bhp) I recon a 2.8 or 1.8t with a bit of tuning would probably out run it because it's lugging around that big motor and all that fwd stuff. I've actually bid on a couple in the past but they never fell below my tight arsed budget.

I guess you'd want to see that it'd been well maintained as even though the motor may be up to it did vw beef the rest of the running gear up to cope with a 150,000 miles of hard towing? I'd say probably not.

Ah fuck I really want to hate this but I don't.  Partly because it's got SAAB turbo power but mostly because it just looks like an old knacker and hasn't had rust spay painted on/paint stripped off as per 1000 golf's and polo's. Okay it's got some of that but no roof rack!

Nothing wrong with that. Then flog it on in the Yookay for a nice profit. I can potentially even offer interim storage, should such a requirement ensue.

Some people try the same, but whack an £8k price tag on them, as soon as they brought them to England.

It's those people who I find annoying, because I think they think everyone except them is daft enough to pay it.
