""Rambling recollection warning""

January 1985, late Sunday afternoon. Go to look at an Ro80 in a leaking old factory building in the centre of Hereford.

Never mind the (rotten, broken and expensive Ro), here were three Isos f.f.s.!

 

I had never seen a Lele outside of The Observers book of Automobiles and here were three. Made even more surreal by the fumes of a big V8 on choke, an immaculate Yellow Lele was up on a ramp and running, looking fantastic in the failing light. The others I remember as being relatively rough, and I guess the one advertised here is one of those; there can't have been two Iso collectors in Hereford surely? Other chod included a Honda S800, like the NSU, completely rotten, and other stuff I have forgotten.

 

I have often wondered what happened to this stuff, why anyone would keep such special cars, just letting them rot in that old shed.

A Yellow Lele has been on my fantasy list ever since. Never seen one again & I am slightly tempted to go and kick this one's tyres as it is only a few miles away.

What a good listing. The exhaust's not exactly blowing, it's got no baffles in the silencers! Sounds good though. Half tempted to bid on the poor thing as it remains the only BL car I've ever driven.

I had a MK2 Capri momentarily in this colour, fantastic. And it's fitted with a Sierra 2.3 Diesel engine!

as a nipper i used to deliver newspapers to thi old fella's house who owned a mark 3 cortina in that colour.

 

it wa the same colour as the garage door, and the driveway gates.

 

now i could never work out, which came first, the car, or the garage door.

 

did the door get painted top match the car,or the car painted to match the car?

 

was that orange a factory colour?

I had a neighbour who painted the garage doors and garden gate to match his car every time he got a new car.

I thought this can only happen in Germany...

^ to be fair they have had a go at masking up, I remember a local, cheap respray chap who didn't bother with much masking and would wipe off (most of) the overspray with a rag soaked in thinners.
