That Ital is wonderful and the pictures appear to pay homage to the work of THE DOCTOR but this...

Here is your opportunity to own one of the rarest classic cars.

... is quite frankly utter nonsense

I havent got a Y reg car in my fleet. The Y reg is what is missing. What is interesting is the caroet having the drivers heel rest on the passenger side, is this one of the Itals that was originally left hand drive for export, but never went and was concerted to right hand drive again? If it is, it is a very rare bird indeed. Not many of those are knowen to survive.A dealer in England converted them as far as i know.

That Ital is utterly, utterly horrible! These have always been the one car I just can't find any affection for, it just screams everything that was wrong with BL at that point.

Sorry! :lol::oops:

It's also identical in every way to one a teacher had when I was at primary school!

'to the fact of our wedding. Later ridden only occasionally'

They all do that eventually. Try calling her by her sister's name one night, that should liven things up a bit.

From a time when aerodynamics were things for planes and oil was mixed in with the fuel.

Wartburg

That's BodieandDoyle's from R-R. I saw it a couple of years ago, and it's ACE. For anyone into Wartburgs in any sort of way, I reckon it's a BARG!

I can go one better than that - I've had a go in it. It's brilliant fun to drive, and surprisingly nippy for what it is. I'd be seriously tempted if I weren't skint.

Is that snorkel thing supposed to be ironic or something, with the cone filter at the top?

Posted

It's a bit irrelevant but my mate who lives in dublin said he got charged stamp duty or some other shite tax on his credit card spending! Seems like pretty hard work to live over there just now.

Well each to theie own. I once apon atime hated the Itals. However as i now own 3 of them as well as 3 Marinas, i can say they drive a lot better than they look. The a PLUS ENGINE in the 1300s is a very good wee engine. The 1700s are very torquey and quite speedy when they want to be as well as economical too. The 2ls aint that common but are good also. However if we all liked the same would be a boaring word!

So, my friend needs a decent little car - sell her the Starlet and buy a Maestro? Hmm, does that sound sensible or utterly ridiculous??!!!

Incredibly sensible! Baring the lack of a heater and the tiny bit of recent welding, Gary's 'Stro has been an absurdly reliable, capable little thing. It's the perfect balance between 'old & faintly interesting' and 'bombproof'*. It's amazingly frugal, too... That one's low miles and a decent colour, I say go for it. Take it from me man, I'm an EXPERT in buying great cars.

* Yes, I realsie now I've said this it will probably EXPLODE tomorrow. Sorry Gary.

'I'm leaning on a lamppost at the corner of the street,

In case a certain little lada comes by

Oh me, oh my,

I hope the little lada comes by.

I don't know if she'll get away,

She doesn't always start each day,

But anyway I know that she'll try.

Oh me, oh my,

I hope the little lada comes by.'

Me too, now just feel nostalgia, that gold one is erection-quality shite. However my memory is lacking, did all marinas/Itals have this odd arrangement whereby the radio (and looks like a shite mono speaker) facing AWAY from the driver? What function do the clothes pegs perform? And had they really run out of RHD carpet sets by 1982?

They all had that radio arrangement after the Marina's first facelift (when they lost the body coloured strip in the radiator grille). The clothes pegs are to hold the choke knob out when starting from cold- a common feature on many 1970s cars.

Roof chopped Minors used to look ace, remember seeing loads about back in the day and being impressed with them. Would just like to add 'Frenched in' round rear lights to that list, Barrett.

Now, talking of 'customising' check out this ARSE FONDLER

I like the way mr Tango states that no boy racers should apply. I would rather own a 1.0 Corsa with a drift wing, Kingdom bodykit and TSW venoms than that

Nothing to do with it being wrong side drive with only two seats...:lol::lol:

LHD carpets were a rarely specified option on run-out Itals for buyers whose "better" halves had hoofs
