The 944S is a rare sight these days, they didn't sell well and have a fragile 16v head - a cambelt drives the exhaust cam which is linked to the intake cam by a chain. The tensioner was not listed by Porsche as a service item so became a bit of an Achilles, good cars ended up scrapped as the tensioner failed and wrecked the head.

The S2 has the same set up but sold in much bigger numbers so breaker parts are more freely available. Not a problem if the tensioner is serviced in time, the part costs about a tenner :)

Just having a look at M3 Golf GTis. What are these like. For this kind of money I am quite tempted:

Sold for £275

This is up for £495. Its quite far away but for that money I could get the megabus down and get it for a tenner or something.

944 16v cam kits seem to run dear too, a friend was selling one with a front oil leak and the kit was £230 when I looked.

The notoriously flakey CEM/Info Centre in the instrument binnacle doesn't work.
I have tried to repair it, but I fear a replacement or reconditioned cluster is the only solution.

Sure that can be repaired guv'nor!

Practically, this means one loses the fuel gauge, temperature gauge and a few other useful functions.

Does one? Oh, how perfectly dreadful.

GUARANTEED INVESTMENT WILL ONLY RISE IN VALUE

What kind of guarantees are you offering? That is quite a strong claim? Are you regulated by the FCA to give financial advice? Is this better than an ISA?

They're ok, mechanically pretty bombproof,  but they rust worse and are heavier than the mk2 which has similar power.

Definite bargains to be had with the mk3 as they are unloved, most people want the mk2 or the mk4 GTi with a turbo (which can be had for not a lot more).

There is some slight damage to rear door on the left side, however it is minimal and doesn't spoil the car in anyway.

I don't mind scuffs and minor dents but that looks pretty bad...

I could live with it for a bit of 4 headed monster action though. £600

No self respected WBoD can possibly be any good for OMGZNOKAOZ.

Add extra shite points for broken heater and floppytop.

.... in a previous life* I hovered within chatting range of a slightly demented Dentist who had sunk a fair wodge into a Turbo crappi... I really only recall the ArseTightening GOPPISHness of the 'faux' sill extensions/chin/arse (c/w Pipe Notch..) >> in pooBrown.

His wifelett wouldn't be moved in it/by it.......

don't think it ended well.....

Superb! I mean, it's not like even slightly hazy/out of focus shots are good enough, he's just totally won Olympic Gold by showing a hefty pair of man boobs and a massive fat arse!
