Which is more bizarre.... that there are folk who earn a living from 'ratting', or that there are folk that will spend some of their time on earth grafting to earn money to then give it to someone else to 'rat' their car!!!

I wholly support anyone's right to make a statement and to express themselves in a any manner they deem necessary (subject to law, and a bit of consideration for others).

But sometimes I am left wanting to point at someone and openly laugh in their face.

Regarding Professionally Ratted Beetle, the numberplate mod is the best part:

correct. you win a rat beetle...

It proudly bears a sticker stating "rolling on steelies", when I suspect it actually has alloys on it?

or am I just really, REALLY bored?

Knocks the efforts of those professional rat-lookers into a cocked hat

Put some banded steelies on in and it will be worth faaarrrrrsaaaands

I think this is probably my favourite shaped Lotus, currently has T&T, so can't be all bad ... £3k with a noisy gearbox doesn't sound badly price to me either.

What's going I with that spoiler though. I recon it's a grand too salty with a borked gearbox .

If it was a grand less there's a good chance I'd be on my way to collect it and bin that spoiler. It's got valid MOT, so that means it should be mostly working,

How bad can a gearbox rebuild be on a Lotus? Worst case scenario is replace it with a UN1 from  Renno isn't it?

I've no idea. It's a vauxhall slant 4 block so there's no way lotus would be sensible enough to fit a vauxhall gearbox . It's not like a type 9 that they made bazillions so I dunno what parts availability would be like.

I dunno what gearbox they used in those Lotus either, but £200 for a series one and £600 for a getrag series 2 gearbox http://www.lotusbits.com/elite_chassis.html

I'm guessing it's s2 since it has the 2.2 engine, so say a grand for gearbox to be replaced, less if it can rebuilt and done yourself.
