These Paella-powered 'Austin' J4 vans really take shite commercials to a new level. This is a 1978 model, in Madrid, asking price is 1600€ which at the current (best for several years) exchange rate equates to about 1250 quid. BARG! I have no idea what engine is in em

They only ever were available with 4-cyl. Diesels.

The base engine was designed by BMC specifically for this J4 derivate, but only built in Spain. It had 1489 cc and a whopping 40 hp. In 1968 it was improved, increasing the already immense power to a mindboggling 46 hp. From 1971, a yet more powerful 1794 cc engine designed by ENASA became available, offering a semi-nuclear 50 hp and more OMGTORK than the original power plant.

Besides, the sheetmetal aft the doors is largely identical with the Sherpa's.

I could get enthusiastic about one of these, defo. £850 is too much for me though, when you lok back through the completed listings the going rate for an up-and-running Safrane seems to be about 15p.

Check out that interior!!!!!

I'd perved over that Passat for a little while before I realised it's not a hatchback! I'm normally a dub scene hater but I'm thinking of getting some Converse and a stupid fucking Benny/ Retarded Smurf hat and getting on a Sleezyjet flight to Lisbon.

*Such a shame about that orange Cortina, its now down in Dorset, that was knocking about in Essex when I papped it back in February.

I've been following his build thread on retro rides, I think he got it pretty cheap and then got the mick taken out of him by his work mates for buying a old man's car from what I remember.

Wow! Never new these actually existed in the flesh! I only ever saw a very basic rendering of one of these in.the kit car mags back in the eighties! It's called a Nyvrem Nirvana and was originally Cortina based and made down in the West Country if my memory serves me right!

WOW that is thunderously shit!!! Nice find!!! Its a bit tragic to consider how that will NEVER see the road due to its sheer bone-crushing rubbishness.
