Just to be a complete nerd (and probably wrong at the same time) that Cortina has the wrong wheels, optional extra or aftermarket vinyl roof and (I think) wouldn't have had stripes on the door. From memory basic ones had nothing, 'L' had stripes and GL+Ghia had rubber strips. Also is the black rear panel standard or would it have been body colour?

Still would though, it's well fit.

You're no doubt right on all counts Billy, but 30+ years of previous owners fitting extra bells & whistles would probably account for the non-standard kit. I suspect the spare wheel in the boot might be an original though.

And yes, I suspect the back panel should have been body-coloured too, but the 2.0S had a black one so I can easily imagine some spotty oik 'maxing' their 1.3 with a tin of black Dulux :lol:

I think you're right, Billy. The roof, wheels, tail and stripes are all aftermarket. Well ok, the wheels are Ford, but not correct on a basic model. It isn't the end of the world, these mods can all be reversed.

In full pedant mode can I also point out that the base models didn't have chrome around the door tops :oops: the base models really, really did have nothing in the way of trim on the outside what so ever....

It is a base alright. It's 35 years old so it's going to have suffered some messing around with. It's not bad given some of the other horror cortinas we've seen on this thread.

DateReg = 01/06/1978

VRM = ALE639S

Fuel = Petrol

Transmission =

Make = FORD

Model = CORTINA 1300 BASE

BodyPlan = 4 Door Saloon

EngineSize = 01298

Colour = RED

YearofManufacture = 1978

NoKeepers = 7

KeeperChanged = 05/06/2002

I'm being tempted by this cheap Scrote. Looks decent enough although no T&T by the signs of it.

Ends in five hours, quite possibly without a single bid being cast due to the BIN price.

It's possibly worth a £250 bid or something, you never know seller might ask how much you bid and try and do a deal. Or probably not, but you never know. I'd have a cheeky bid but I don't like VAG stuff, it's petrol, it's the same colour as my old 80TDi estate and I don't like VAG stuff.

'sadly this one has been butchered by the previous owner.they stripped the car and removed the floor and replaced it with a beetle chassis,the car still has its correct front suspension but the engine and gearbox and rear suspension was sadly scrapped!'
