I ♥ MINIS!

£1,050, and look at the, uh, patina!

bZBSs28.jpg

my beloved Rover Mini City

I think it might be a Rose which has lost most of its identifying features and gained a City boot lid.

For the age of the vehicle it has been very reliable

Translation: has not been reliable.

For the age of the vehicle mechanically it is fairly sound.

Translation: fucked

In the past 18 month the car has benefited from the following work; a new head gasket (plus skimming), new spark plugs, O/S & N/S outer sills, N/S subframe mount, rear frame N/S & O/S arch welding plus boot floor, replaced rear brake shoes, N/S engine mount has been replaced, new battery, fan belt.

Oh, maybe it's not fucked.

no longer starts.

Nah, it's fucked.

I still like it. Just don't paint Minis white! Paint them rust colour, primer colour, or that dark blue colour Kurust dries.

Alfa GTV from page 1986

Seller says the clutch is fooked  -  knackered forks.

How much of a job would it be to sort this out?

Dunno how different these are under the skin from the 156, but when my TS clutch died it took 10 hours to change it on axle stands in the drive.

Front sub-frame had to be dropped to remove the gearbox through the NSF wheel arch - It would've easier to just take the engine & box out to do the job.

(Clutch kit was around £240 too - Although that was back in 2008, so it might be cheaper now...)

Re that Saab:

I'm getting around 500 miles to £70 super unleaded

Having owned at least 8 9000 Turbos, I call bollocks on that.

That beige ambassador is without doubt the most posted car on here. It must appeal to the people on here for some reason.

Are those strange scoops on the bonnet rear view mirrors ?

Indeed they are.  I can't imagine why this styling feature didn't catch on.

I think this beautifully finished gopping horror is the 'unknown sportscar' from Inconsistant's Legoland trip:
