FORD ESCORT SERENADE 1.6 BLUE 16v 5DR 1997 ,, BARN FIND ONLY 29,574 MLS ,, | eBay

My mate round the back had a Zafira that was so bad, even I didn't want it. He sold it to this garage and it turned up a few days later with a fresh advisory less MOT and no doubt still rattling its tits off.

I was going to say that the seller is a Maestro licker but, then, figured there's a few around here ;-)
He knows that only six of these still exist in the known universe, thus, his is really, really valuable? He'd be better slinging it onto the cars/classics website or else chuck it into an auction and grit his teeth.
£10K tops ??

I think it's pug ugly to be fair (I'd give him £4.5K but I'm a tightwad)

Precisely. @sheffcortinacentre there are a few Turbos coming up for sale, the most expensive a couple of weeks ago advertised at something like £16k. So IMO it's a buyer's market.

From memory they built 500 odd.

These things haven't reached Ford levels of classic car price fever and probably never will, blessed by a combination of BL dynamism* and an exterior appearance born of overenthusiastic use of a geometry set.

That red one has done 90k (not that mileage is a big deal if it's been rebuilt, but anyway) and there's no mention of bodywork repairs. Maestros came with factory fit rust so even if it's been garaged in cotton wool it'll be starting to suffer.

The only way it's worth £20k is if there's £10k of gold bullion in the glove box.

Agreed. While the ebay chancers have been listing these at ~£15k, the actual change hands price of a really good Turbo would be ~£10k I think. My EFi is insured for £5k, arguably not worth that even with good body and 60k on the clock.

My wifey is insured for about £100K and has a good body with only 55 on the clock ;-)

GREAT INVESTMENT TO TURN INTO SOMETHING

1. Make it play a drillrap jingle

2. Drive to the rough places

3. Sell knives instead of ice cream to the youth there

4. Profit (or get stabbed/incarcerated)

Fixed that for you. 🤣

This Mini has seen better days. The paint is peeling a bit, the interior is quite worn, it's 22 years old and I haven't looked after it very well.
That said, it has a current MOT, it runs and drives, starts well even after a few days sitting, and it has had a set of new tyres recently and a new battery last year.
The catalytic converter and part of the exhaust were replaced a couple of years ago.
One brake light (prob a bulb) and one headlight (not sure why) are not working, and I radwelded the radiator a years ago which has fixed the faster than average  disappearing coolant fluid thing that was happening for a while.
Only one key, there might be an issue with the passenger door lock not working but I have had no problems with theft.

The photos are quite romantic looking and make it look quite pretty, I don't know how that happened.

There you go, a brutally honest description.

Location is Bloxham, approx. 3 miles south of Banbury.
