Preludes have really tanked in value recently, yet Civics are still big money. The scene tax is real.

I don't think they were ever worth huge amounts, and that one is the miserable 2 litre lump. I bought my 2.2 VTEC back in about 2011 for £650 with a ticket on it as it was the fastest thing I could afford back then as a 21 year old.

I was thinking to myself, that's quite an odd looking v8 with big cam covers like that.

Then I counted the Cylinders

Then I realised it was the v6 from the Original Renault 30

Am I right in thinking this is what powers* the DeLorean? Douvrin V6?

I believe so the PeRV engine

I though I hallucinated this but it seems not. When the PeRV was in the Talbot Tagora it had 2 sets of triple webbers.

That would have looked quite good on that fake lambo with some intake trumpets.

Powered by its original Renault 2,664cc V6 engine producing circa 126bhp and 150ft/lb of torque mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox

Anyway, a Renner 30 that actually runs, egg quipped ironically.

Crikey what a pile of bollocks you think if you're going to go to all that effort you'd put a small block v8 or Jag v12 in it.

That auction has some crackingly optimistic guides on some stuff,

35 grand + 12% buyer premium on a painted delorean . You can only imagine how awful the body must be to go and paint it.

I think the brushed stainless finish is a PITA to keep looking good because of fingerprints and such. I could be imagining it though...

In that case, GLWS @dan95x

😁 Cheers - And I am more aware than anyone that it is quite the 'minor over winter resto' 😂 If it was something else it would pretty close to only be fit for parts, but early, RHD, matching numbers, 911 means you could throw a fair bit of money at restoring it and genuinely still be 'quids in' so to speak.

Its not 'really' mine - Was my Granddads who died about 18 months ago, it is just one of the oddities he left behind that I am fighting my way through - Shame he left it in a bush for 35 years!

The Beetle Cabrio in the sale is mine/his too.  Chalk and cheese on the condition front mind!

Its an interesting mix of stuff in the sale - I am quite looking forward to see what sells/doesnt, what sells for what if you see what I mean.

A lot of stuff has, as you say, some interesting guides, and equally a lot of the lots are no reserve, so in theory it should be quite telling what the market is looking like - My feeling is it is cooling quite a bit at the minute

My acquaintance Boring Simon had one and said it's cleaned with a brillo pad, same way you'd clean a sink.

Sinks are faster though

Don't you dare update/replace those number plates! 👍

It definetely will be but it's iconic for that car surely the only reason you'd paint one is because the body is so biffed up the only way to get it straight is paint and filler.

idk, one of the main attributes of stainless is that it's really ductile, so should be possible to make good... unless too expensive? istr some did come from the factory painted?

I'm sure I read at some point the only officially painted ones were done by US dealers and none actually came from the factory.  Either way I imagine getting the paint off and refinishing it would be a right laugh.

And your starter question for tonight University of Autoshite...how many different names did that car have in its life?

Chrysler Horizon - Talbot Horizon - Dodge Omni - Plymouth Horizon.

And for your follow up - in which country was the car designed to run on turpentine - Finland!

And finally what sports car guru ill-advisedly put his name to a sports version - Carroll Shelby!

Shitting Norah, that's probably come from (W) Anchor Motors in Chester originally, seen here in earlier years before that Talbot.

No photo description available.

Is that where the pepper street car park is now?

My grandparents had a talbot horizon, c reg. silver with an interior with red piping. Narrowly avoided crashing when he had a heart attack driving it. Then laid up for two years with about 3000miles on it.  My dad sold it to a 6th former at school ( kings way in Chester) for a couple of hundred when motorbility came in and they had a Megane. I liked the looks and it replaced a yellow Talbot with white bumpers. Model name escapes me.

Body designed in the UK by Roy Axe - and European Car of the Year 1979. But - wedded to some wheezy rattley old Simca engines that dented sales somewhat. Very rust prone - only a handful left in UK out of the 842,000 built in all Europe.

The Shelby ones are actually pretty quick & have a cult following in the USA.

But then they do have a 2.2 eng rather than the air-cooled diesel simca eng ours had.
