This is for sale quite near to me, and my eBay searches are generally based distance first. It’s turned up in the endless scrolling for a while now.

And each and every time this catches my eye and makes me look twice.

just so right looking. Makes me want to grow a moustache and smoke Marlboro reds.

sadly it’s 100k, so not only can I not afford it, I likely never will.

Fucking look at it though.

It needs a better interior though. This would do

Always thought the best bit of an esprit was the rocket ship interior.

Little known fact that the side trim from the front wings of Oxfords & A60s, fits on the boot lid bang on. It also fits the upper back part of the back seat on Farina Estates. Tell yer mates and bore them to death :-D

You know you want to look at those fins!

s-l1600.jpg

Also I wonder why the seam down the back wing stops half way down Isopon?

Fiesta was Ford's first UK false wheel drive but I think the 12 & 15 M Taunus was the first European one along with the Taunus transit.

Is journalism now just taking some photos from eBay and writing about them?

Holy smoke Batman, it's a Consul Capri.

Doesn't look too bad, but who knows. Very original / unmolested, but maybe it's completely fuckled.

Originally Aberdeen/shire registered.

Oh yeah!!!. One of these would have been good factory-built with the Zodiac Mk3 2.5 six.

When my mum was in nhs training in the early sixties one of her colleagues  bought one new. The thing is he didn’t drive it, it was his pride and joy and my mum even included it in a crossstich sampler for his retirement in the 1990s. She remembers sitting in it as a student in his garage- you weren’t allowed inside with shoes on. When he died it had almost no miles on it and still the original plastic seat and door covers. I’d have bought it, but sadly it wasn’t included in his estate sale and he had no relatives ( his father was a free polish pilot, and theres actually quite a large polish community in Wrexham dating back to the war). I have his chemistry books.

so if you see a car like this at a meeting I know the early history.

Fiat skinned fozzie bear for this!

4037C048-9411-4253-80A4-CC5847DD4DE0.pngEdit, this seems a very basic ad and the car looks lovely and far too cheap. May be a scam? It’s a car that’s on my dream garage list, especially in this colour and interior combination.

i really like the 309. like, really, really like them.

the last car designed in Whitley, so its the last Hillman?

this one is a 1400 automatic, so will be glacially slow. it also only has 3 original hubcaps (one is broken) so i'm out.......

s-l1600.jpg

All 309 automatics are 1.6 engines, they never did a 1.4 auto.  Like many ebay sellers this one hasn't bothered to check his listing, or is otherwise completely unaware.

another wartburg, and this one is in the colour of a winner, been beige.

s-l1600.jpg

incorrectly engined, using a polo one instead of the 2 stroke, and decadently trimmed in velour.

s-l1600.jpg

this is not a car for the proles, but one for a good party apparatchik.

A Wartburg Knight/353 needs chrome bumpers and original grille.  The later 'plasticised' ones look ridiculous IMHO.

That 309 auto sold for a lot less than that a very short while ago. These eBay flippers are becoming very blatant about it now. Sometimes you have to wonder if stuff like that will ever get driven again, or if it's just dealers desperate to make 50 pence each time.

That makes me feel we are in a price/speculative bubble where you don't want to be holding the cars when the fun stops.

Shame as 309 autos are actually quite a decent steer. I'd have kept mine if classic insurance wasn't such a damn lottery.

What on Earth were you searching for to find that?

This one looks quite fresh, almost like a 2 year old one.

Like a chemistry experiment at school where you could monitor and record the changes occurring daily. 'Does rapidly corroding metal make a noise? Discuss'.

(Test microphones near a 1981 Alfasud in the school lab recorded very loud 'white noise' continuously until some time during the summer holidays 1987 when all went quiet. It sounded like CkckchhhrrrrkkKkkchhhkkkk).
