Oooossshhhh I like that Carlton. Anyone remember when they came out? It sticks in my memory as a BIG DEAL although I was only 12 at the time. I remember getting my regular pre-ordered copy of Autocar from the newsagents and soaking up all the intel.

I was even into shite cars as I child. I seem to recall being more excited when the Metro went to five doors.

I think it was about 1986 as I worked in a Vauxhall main dealers when they launched it. They made a big thing about ACT advanced chassis technology. Which was supposed to make them handle really well. The advert demonstrated it against a "normal" car which if I remember rightly was an NSU RO80. I also remember the GL had no end of trouble with wheel trims falling off, we sold hundreds of them.

Looks like shit but it's a 5 speed manual with LPG for £425.

I realise these are far too specialised for this site and you plebs couldn't possibly understand them, but they're a nice thing all the same.  No MOT though, and the fact that it's quite obviously on a lift in a garage in one of the photos doesn't bode well.

Yes it's not shite (yet), but it's a V6.

That's gone straight on my watch list. I like the Laguna coupes as much as I dislike the saloons.

Plus, lots of beige.

Just had an email from eBay (item you are watching is ending in4 hours, or whatever) but interestingly it included:

'Current bid: £210.00 (reserve price: £1,500.00)'

This sort of surprised me as I reckon it'll put some buyers off bidding if they think the reserve is too high, thus denying the chance of a second price offer or better end price. Probably academic as it might suit some people knowing what the reserve is, and people will bid or not as they see fit, I just don't think it's a good idea.

Thgose wheels are dangerously close to the owner needing a virtual e-punch to the knackers. They look pissing awful on that Cortina.

I wouldn't recommend buying that one. No diesel engine, for a start. Subaru diesel engines are a liability, sadly.

Domestic market touches aside, (Alcyone badges front and rear, 'Boxer' plenum cover and cool Axminster carpets) the box will probably be buggered.

4EATs don't like sitting around - and they're attached to an integral radiator/box cooler which explodes. A lot.

You could get all the Alcyone bits apart from the light bar for about £150 all in from Rinkya/Yahoo auctions.

There's a British market pearl white jobbie (a stunning 'candy' metallic used well before any of the European manufacturers offered it) starting at £2k which is far nicer - and has an external slushbox oil cooler.

Those poorly chosen alloys on the Cortina are probably worth a fortune to the Cosworth lickers.

Buy it and win twice.

The second one is better, God alone knows what a 'coach wanker autograph' is but it was £1.00 and the buyer wasn't happy.

WTF is going on with that sprinter? If it was picking me and my friends up to go to school back in the day I reckon we would all go to the back and jump up and down in unison till the front wheels lifted off the ground and we crashed.
