Fabergé Greggs Posted February 22, 2022 Posted February 22, 2022 Chodspirational stuff!! Keep 'em coming! That Riley does look particularly ace 👍
BeEP Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 So whilst photos from 10 years or more ago are all well and good, how about something a bit more up to date. As in I arrived back with it 10 minutes ago... Dick Cheeseburger, mk2_craig, wuvvum and 24 others 27

But with the LDV going for MOT on Friday, and three already booked in March it may have to wait a bit! Having had a bit more of a look over it this afternoon it seems pretty good. Bodywork does have a number of scratches, small scrapes and dents which don't show on the photo but it's pretty presentable for its age. Looks solid underneath; it's had small patches at the rear of each sill. Interior is a bit grubby but will clean up ok. All electrics work, and it's nice to have a car with the indicator switch on the correct side! Two issues will need investigation. When first started it idles at 2500rpm; as it warms up this drops (which is good!) but keeps going until it's below 500rpm and on the point of stalling. Secondly the gearlever has completely lost whatver centering mechanism/springs it originally had. Gears are still easy to select though. Will take some more photos, but given the weather forecast for tomorrow, LDV MOT Friday morning and going away for the weekend Friday afternoon it probably won't be until next week. wuvvum and Jim Bell 2

aldo135 Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Think I’ve said before on this thread but I was a Transco apprentice when those vans were being used. The 400s were liked much more than the 200s! Eyersey1234 and BeEP 2

wuvvum Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 BeEP's one is a turbo as well, which means it is fast*. aldo135 and BeEP 1 1
Zelandeth Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Nice to see another Pride on here. They're really jolly little things to drive I reckon. We had a few come through at the garage during my time there (2001-2005 if I remember right), and they always seemed like a lot more (or at least a good deal newer) car for your money than most of the <£1K stuff they shared that corner of the forecourt with aside from the occasional Proton which I also always had a soft spot for. BeEP Posted March 1, 2022 Author Posted March 1, 2022 Avensis clocked up another unremarkable 220 miles this weekend. MOT booked for the end of the month then up for sale (or cartakebacked if the MOT goes particularly badly!). As promised, a few more photos of the Pride. Nice that it has original dealer plates, rear window sticker and Kia badged stereo. Zelandeth, wesacosa, Fabergé Greggs and 15 others 18
Dan302 Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Did I imagine these Prides having white wall tyres when new??
wuvvum Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 That looks a belter. I hope I get a chance to drool over it in the tin at some point. They're fantastic little cars. 26 minutes ago, Dan302 said: Did I imagine these Prides having white wall tyres when new?? The early ones did. There's a chap on here - gricer I believe - who has one with whitewalls which he took to FOTU last year. Dan302 1

Ghosty Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 That was one of Jude's wasn't it? Glad it's got a good home.

BeEP Posted March 2, 2022 Author Posted March 2, 2022 I thought it might be Jude the Obscure, given the sort of cars he apparently collects! Dick Cheeseburger and Jim Bell 1 1
BeEP Posted April 6, 2022 Author Posted April 6, 2022 As per the Anglia Car Auction thread, yesterday I collected this... ...and today the orange Allegro I acquired last August passed its MOT (I know it doesn't need one!) and returned to the road for the first time in over five years. Still a number of jobs to do but good to discover that it drives well, albeit with the familiar Allegro steering rack clonk and less than perfect second gear synchromesh. It was getting dusk by the time I remembered to take a photo - must try harder... Dick Cheeseburger, RobT, Six-cylinder and 18 others 21
BeEP Posted April 6, 2022 Author Posted April 6, 2022 And just in case anyone has missed the thread in the for sale section, the Avensis is now available: https://autoshite.com/topic/48949-2003-toyota-avensis-18-full-mot-£740-or-roffle-£13£24-for-two-west-norfolk/?tab=comments#comment-2504711 AnnoyingPentium 1

BeEP Posted May 21, 2022 Author Posted May 21, 2022 I hate silver cars... ...so I bought a silver Pride. Then a silver Cinquecento. A month or so ago this arrived: It went through a MOT on Tuesday, so as a reward I ordered a new door lock set as it has the usual key spins in the barrel syndrome on at least three locks. These arrived yesterday, will hopefully be fitted on Monday and then it will be for sale. It's a 1.9D so if anyone from Scotland fancies it they should maybe book a week's holiday to allow time to get it back. And then on Thursday I bought this: Proof that cheap cars are still out there. It has had a new clutch and cambelt within the last 10000 miles, and three new tyres less than a year ago. It may need a bit of welding to the inner sills at the MOT in August but drives exceptionally well. I didn't haggle with the £425 asking price! It will become the new everyday car and the C1 kept as more of a toy. SiC, privatewire, AnnoyingPentium and 7 others 10
BeEP Posted May 21, 2022 Author Posted May 21, 2022 To keep other bits and bobs up to date the Avensis sold to a family from Ipswich, and the Pride is booked in for MOT next Friday. Best go out and see if it starts then, I've not touched it since early March!

No plans to sell the Focus; an estate or similar with towbar has been something I've been looking for. However you may have spotted a theme with my cars; what doesn't get sold sooner gets sold later. 1 hour ago, Robson3022 said: I’d like details on the van when it’s ready please! BeEP Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 Dispatch now has new locks fitted to all doors, and as a bonus I discovered it has central locking. Which works!
