barrett
oops, another local spots thread i've missed until now, seems we've doubled up on a few of them... but i've been hoping to get that DS ambo for ages.Is that a Visa poking into shot with the gold Carlton? surely that was worth a pic too? I saw the red one the other day for the first time, that makes three i know of in Brighton, gotta be an unusually high rate of survival eh? garycox
Nah, it's just a C15 van.
Mr_Bo11ox
Wow that Ballade is a late one, Rover had been selling 214's for a year or two when that got sold! I thought they died on a F reg or something. Bet its totally rotten as hell, they always are.
garycox
Yeah it might be shiny but it's well crusty. One of the rear quarter light things has been replaced with a gaffer taped bit of perspex too. I think it's driven by a young Asian guy.
barrett
Oh yeh i totally forgot about C15s.....
garycox
I just remembered about this thread, I haven't updated it since 2009! I should have some more/better ones somewhere, I think they're trapped on an old phone though. Anyway, here's a mini-update... Starting with the worst picture ever taken... it was very dark and I was probably drunk. You can't really make it out but it was a 2dr BX van. Dead Saabs, I think these were in Hove somewhere. Merc Coupe Nice Mini van Another Mini Shite Saab in Lewes This is odd, it's on Lewes high street being used for storage. It's impossible to see the sides and front so I'm not sure whether it's just a container, or a trailer, or whether there's a whole truck sitting there... The vehicle details for OCD 564M are:Date of Liability 01 11 1986Date of First Registration 08 11 1973Year of Manufacture Not AvailableCylinder Capacity (cc) Not AvailableFuel Type PetrolExport Marker Not ApplicableVehicle Status UnlicensedVehicle Colour RED It's a Toyota apparently. These Reliants are in Bexley, I remember them from when I went to school about 10 years ago. I expected them to have been off the road for ages but according to the DVLA the blue one's still taxed! I've never seen it move... couldn't see the registration of the red one. Jag - Bit far away because I couldn't be bothered to get out of the car. And finally... the car that inspired me to resurrect this thread... I saw this supa-shite Volvo in Brighton today, crap pics as usual, the excuse this time being that I was already 80mins into my 1 hour lunch break... I saw it after work in a more convenient place to take pictures but by then my phone battery had died...
garycox
Also, the blue Alpine from page 1 is still taxed, hooray!
barrett
Just going back through this thread, you really have seen some amazing stuff. I'd have a fuggin' seizure if I saw that Alpine out and about. Amazing news that it's still taxed, though I doubt it's still local. I saw the red Mk2 Cav on Monday too, still going strong. Looked like it was in really good condition too. I'm intrigued by the BX van thing, whereabouts did you see that?
garycox
It was on Dyke Road, by the little park thing. I've not seen it before or since though. Have you 'spotted' the really manky white Vitesse convertible about in Brighton? It's usually parked on John Road, I see it quite a bit but I've never had the opportunity to take a picture (plus my phone camera's shit)
brammy777
I am fairly unfamilar with the Brighton area, but there is a shoddy Vitesse near/in Hanover and a utterly crap looking Herald near by, one of the roughest cars I have EVER seen. There is also a crusty early 80s Mustang in Hove, but I am unsure as to if it's a resident, or was merely a visitor. Brighton is good for spotting though, I saw that red Carlton a few weeks ago too! CIH
I noticed that mega 80s Galant on the first page - that's gota be a rare old bus nowadays. I bet they hadly sold any, 80s J trying to mucle in the BMW market 'n' all.
garycox
MINIMUM EFFORT UPDATE I was gonna actually go out and take some pics but it's a bit gloomy, or something. Anyway, here's some stuff that I don't think has been here before. Foren-registered Opel, coming over here, taking our parking spaces etc. An Escort that I owned briefly in about March time, didn't really get mentioned here but it was AWFUL. Routemaster that was being used on a normal route in Brighton for some reason Boot fair Cherry Any idea what this is/was? It sat here for many years, but has recently disappeared sadly. I might go and get a better pic of that Galant if I can be arsed (unlikely).
Guest
The wing mirrors on that Amazon are worth a few quid. Top spot.
garycox
Well i've been MEGA-BORED this weekend, so I had a wander to see if I could find anything interesting: Fiesta Cadillac Some MOAR shots of that Galant The OSR wing has been damaged since last time I used to see this when I was walking the dog about 10 years ago. This has also been here for years, looks pretty good still. Couple more Americans spotted today
garycox
Have some more rubbish pictures! I do not approve of the black bits. 1977 Triumph 2000 by GaryCox, on Flickr 1992 Citroen BX 19 TXD by GaryCox, on Flickr This BMW's been here for ages. 1981 BMW 320 Baur by GaryCox, on Flickr K REG 1992 Proton GL Puma by GaryCox, on Flickr I normally don't bother taking pictures of campers, but I liked this one. 1984 Renault Trafic HDS Camper by GaryCox, on Flickr 1972 MG B Roadster by GaryCox, on Flickr This is pretty great innit. 1973 Fiat 850 Ice Cream Van by GaryCox, on Flickr Previously spotted by Barrett (as have quite a few of these). barrett
Good stuff. I saw a much betterer Triumph 2000 the other day, but still not found the yellow one (That's three I know of round here including the elusive brown estate). there was an old style Nissan Maxima parked behind that Proton last week too, which I failed to snap. Do us a favour, check down Bedford Place (off western road, vaguely on your way to work) as there was a perfect 'Oily Rag' Consul Classic 315 down there on Friday night, but I'm not about tomorrow to check it's still there and document it. Part of me is hoping it's the same example that was in the 'my classic & I' bit of C&SC some time around 1986 owned by some eccentric Brighton guy who lived in the big art deco block on the seafront, just round the corner from where I saw it... garycox
Is it a sort of blue/grey colour? If so I saw it in Lewes when I lived there. Can't remember if it was 2 or 4 door. I'll check tomorrow (if I remember)
Junkman
Any idea what this is/was? It sat here for many years, but has recently disappeared sadly. garycox
Looks like you might be right Junkman, this is the closest I've ever seen to something that matches (and I have been looking). Frustratingly I didn't see it on there at the time, I'd love to see some pics with the covers off! It was on that drive for about 20 years at least. garycox
Barrett - the Classic wasn't there (predictably) This thing was though, bit MODERN but mega-grim so I thought I'd get a picture so it wasn't a wasted journey*.
