I'm going to throw my hat in the ring on this one.  It's not exactly what I'm after as a Rover replacement but it comes pretty close and given the condition of the rest of it I'd be more than happy to put the work in to get it all Heidel-standard again.  Would also be insanely useful come house move time, if we ever actually managed to buy a sodding house.

I lived in Haslingden for the first 30 years of my life and still work and drink there (only moved a mile and what a difference). I feel your pain..

I'm 80 miles away.

IF anyone can help get it here, I'll store it (dry garage) and get her sorted.

I'e had a similar experience in Tipton years ago with a 405 but they did less damage, must be a better* class of criminal round there? I bought the car for 30 quid so as you can imagine it wasn't exactly a minter and they still tried to have it away!

There's a lot to be said about arming the steering lock on any old car (except ones made of cheese like Novas) every time you park it, that's what defeated the twats last time as they tried to slide hammer the ignition, were defeated and fucked off.

Hopefully someone saves it as it look like a pretty straight motor.

Fantastic thank you James. Will definitely be in good company although I'm going to probably part with either a bx or my other XM in the long term

Collection is sorted for Friday, it's going to give Ceri's trailer a work out!

Low level IQ in that area. It's been that way for a while.

Intelligence has been pretty much bred out round there....

It may also be that some people just get a kick out of damaging / destroying things.

Is Xm door glass that difficult to find?

Door glass and ignition lock located. Unfortunately means a trip to Anglesey over Xmas but at least I've found them.

Maybe in some areas but in that part of the country there is a well established history of stealing, joyriding and then torching cars.

Glad to hear you've found the bits to get the car repaired.

[joykill] Surely you could have them posted? Even if you paid them half of your fuel cost you'd save the other half and your time? [/joykill]

I have a chopped section of bx roof the seller requires. I'm sure a good deal will be trashed out. Besides, excuse for a roadtrip!
