"Steering may not operate", brakes and seatbelts. You'd hope so!

That’s what £41.345 got you in 2001.

My overall impression of it (and exactly how it was sold to me by the dealer who was refreshingly free of the usual bullshit patter) is that it has been well used but by an owner not afraid to also keep it maintained. Exactly what you want when you’re buying at the “shite” end of the market.

Rather than one that’s been running around on a council estate for a few years with limo tints, chrome and a questionably spaced plate, anyway.

No doubt it’ll take some money to keep it on the road but I feel it’s a decent base to start from if a cheap E53 is what I’m after

Good point, but you missed an essential from the council estate version, wheels like this.

151k is not a lot as long as it has had regular tlc.

Better than buying something that has spent a long time sat around and not even had air in the tyres.

16mpg is'nt too horrific - I viewed a 535d - the owner admitted it was going 'cos 27 mpg. So I went for a petrol V8 which is giving me 19 mpg around town but more on a run.

It has not. Trundling along in ruinously expensive (monetary and environmentally) luxury*.

Changed the rear lights yesterday (fucker of a job, the NS one has its retaining nuts obscured by the CD changer and sat nav CD) and the side repeaters, looks nice and fresh. Needs a good wash/polish/wax/2bucketwrongun.

Glass is really awful, I think I need to find a wrongun with a polishing machine to go over it with that Ceriglass stuff

Glad this continues to work as expected*

I have a machine you can use and I'm based (for work) in Swindon not far from you.

I've never used that stuff before but the buffer buffs, well, anything really!!!!

Welcome to borrow it wherever, I have a selection of polishing gumph, heads, soft finishing stuff etc you can use as well.

Good mate of mine in the unit share that sadly is no longer with us through his own means had a 3.0d X5 with 227k on the clock but still drove like new. He was fastidious with his maintenance though and it did seem too eat bushes but my ML was the same, I think it's a combo of heavy car and shit roads.

Ta but I think with the glass I’d rather find someone who knows what they’re doing and slip them some beer tokens -

Chance of making it worse and looking even more swirls/holograms would drive me mad

Tried replacing this interior-matching mirror earlier with a cheap pattern non dimming one

Fucked it taking it off and fucked the shitty ill-fitting new one trying to put it on. Two broken mirrors in about 10 minutes.

Deep fucking joy.

Had to drive the Primera this morning because it’s now missing a mirror!

Fair play to it though, in true Japanese style it started first turn of the key and got on with it despite being forgotten about on the street for a couple of weeks. Might rethink selling it.

I'd give you £350 for your X5 mind Kiltox if you prefer to keep the primera

That's very generous but what would you want us to give you in return? :-D

I am still deeply envious of that interior. It's glorious.

Noice chequer plate mats

Bought those to keep the carpets clean in winter (they’re rubber) - they were really cheap on eBay including a boot liner.

They stink really bad though!

That interior is really something... has anyone claimed dibs on being the next owner of this?  Asking for a friend...

Nobody’s spoken up but I know everyone wants it, especially cort16. :D.
