1986 Renault 11 Automatic, 46k long MOT, very decent runner. Gonna keep it

Yeah, I don't really like how this drives. It's super glidy and smooth and oddly pokey but I don't like it as much as other things, and I'd like to use the money to buy something a bit more involving feeling.

That's not to say a non PAS 80s R11 doesn't have driving feel, because it certainly does.

Here is the lifted text from the advert I just put on C+C (Ebay can do one).

I have decided to part ways with my Renault 11. I bought it a short while ago from down in Cornwall and drove it over 200 miles back to mine. It performed impeccably, although given its low mileage for its age, and fact it probably never left Cornwall in its lifetime, I took it easy.

Unusual colour, of which I believe is called Eméraude (927). Common on an R4, but seemingly almost unheard of an R11.

The 3 speed automatic gearbox works well, changing up and down when it should, the kickdown also works fine. Creeps fine in gear, and doesn't roll on hills. I would recommend a fluid change merely because I have no idea when it was last done.

Engine temperatures were fine when it drove back, a bit higher on hills and in traffic but the cooling fan does work! It was an especially hot day when I got it.

Front electric windows, plush feeling seats, alloy wheels, but no central locking and no rev counter, not that it matters with an automatic.

Very little in the way of rust on the surface, one of the front door hinges (passenger side) has got a bit crusty, but arches are fine and under the bonnet is amazingly clean.
There is one roof gutter trim missing.
The clock does not work.
One of the rear lights may have a bad connection as it's completely gone out.
Front wings have dents on them, no broken paint but the dents will need some bodywork in my opinion.
Droning noise appeared at speeds around 60, could be a bearing. It didn't seem to appear when driven around town recently.

Otherwise it all seems good. I have wanted an 11 for a while, but the automatic box isn't in keeping with what I like in cars anymore, plus the fact I (accidentally) damaged my beloved Peugeot 605 recently means I have to sell this.
Comes with a spare key, original books and wallet.
A great car to cherish and look after, it has MOT until mid 2019 and has only covered 46k in 32 years, staggeringly low for a car this age which has been in constant use. The original owner was the only previous owner to me.
Please feel free to email me any questions and requests for additional photos, of which I have many.

R11s of this age have been rare a long time now, and I would love this car to go to someone who will look after it, and ideally store it indoors. I don't have a garage, sadly. Not a huge issue with 90s and onwards stuff, but not ideal with this.

Yeah you get the picture.

Open to offers from you lot, but ideally as near to £875 as possible. Hell you might even have something I want for swaps. FJ have to want to insure it though.

I know I bought it for less than my asking price, but I'd like to make a tiny profit once.

Bargain.

Garunteed to pull your hairline further south and to raise your testicles higher.

Whether you want it to or not.

More want than imaginable!

If I had seen this a month ago it would be in my parking space.

Bang on the money and in a great colour.

I wouldn't take less on it as it looks great!

Looks stunning, can't remember the last time I saw one of these on the road. Hope it finds a good home

This has got lots of people’s names written all over it, wonder who will be the first to cave?

That’s very appealing. Is it a transverse cleon fonte?

The shape of the glass at rear is worthy of the kind of weird rear hatch glass fetish thread that someone should probably start ASAP.

The alloys can go straight on the best alloys ever thread.

It is indeed a transverse Cleon. I thought it was really slow until I actually used the throttle. Not quick, spritely.

That is very delicious, but I'm now four cars over the three cars we agreed was a sensible number. Which is a bloody shame.

That is a beautiful colour. Shame it's an auto or I'd have tried to convince the girlfriend it'd make a great purchase.

Oil the bumpers, give it a good polish, a white background and advertise it at 3 grand. Seems to work for some.

This is strangely appealing, very odd yet normal,I just can't see it being a long term daily solution though for some reason?

No use other than a bump, but really hope this stays on the forum as was hoping it’d stay around long enough for me to afford it! An absolute beauty

Personally I wouldn't run it daily as it's a bit too good for that...

All cars are meant to be daily drivers man. Thats literally what they are for.

Well that's not what FJ want to hear when you insure this stuff with them....this isn't my every day transport.

For those interested, this costs £140 a year with FJ.

But yeah if the new owner wants to daily it, I wouldn't stop them.

Funny, that's pretty much the color I was going to paint my GTA.

Most excellent. Someone buy it and enjoy it.

I think with FJ its the commuting drive to work that's excluded. If you drive to the shops or to see your Aunt Flo or something every day and keep under your agreed mileage that's ok. I think I'm correct. You also need access to a modern car - but you don't necessarily need to own that it could belong to a partner or family member too.

Can't remember the last timeI saw one of these in France. They are not cherished along with a whole generation of other cars that we like but no one seems bothered about there. In daily use sometimes but never at shows or really tidy examples of 80's 90's everyday cars are often seen by me when there. They feature in French classic car mags occasionally but zilch seen on the road by me.

Wikipedia says the the Renault 9 / Renault 11 duo remains today the third best seller in France with 6.3 million units.

They are pretty light too at 805 to 950kg. Alas I've too many cars so have to pass.

It this was in Paris, was in a darker colour and had all of its body missing behind the a pillar I would buy it #bondwannabe

FJ, Best, Nash etc do allow 'driving to work', charging ~£25 or so for the extension to the policy

But the 'driving to work' is specifically for occasional high days and (non)holidays, not three uninterrupted weeks of sliding about in SNOWKAOS. I would never do that, sir.
