Wibble - sorry for what you've been through (you and your wife I mean) and sorry for what she continues to bear.  the NHS were brilliant throughout her treatment.............but all support has fallen away now that she's been given the all clear.

Trouble is - she still needs it.  But let's move on.

It feels like a great forum - love the irreverance and tone of the place - makes it very special imo.  Love the depth of knowledge and the comaraderie too.

Delighted to hear she has the all clear but, you don’t go through all that and suddenly be ok. Sorry the support all falls to you now, good luck, we’re all here for you.

Hello, another newbie here. A few weeks back, I made a quite rash, possibly beer-fueled bid on an Ebay auction and ended up with this:

Have I come to the right place? 😀

Evening all!i

I'm Matt, aged 28 and 1/2, I have a bit of a slight compulsion for buying cars that are for sale for less than the average monthly salary. In the last 10 years, my time spent on the toilet has increased dramatically as I habitually browse the internet looking for my next shed for pocket money whilst on the pot so I feel this place is a natural home for me! Also am dead good at remembering number plates which can un-nerve people so I feign ignorance in that department sometimes.

Currently own a kitchen appliance white, Focus 1.8 TDCI with 98500 on the clock. Bought for just over a grand to replace a 57 plate fiesta which itself was bought for a bit less than a grand, however it sadly succumbed to terminal rust and just didn't have another winter in it. Although it gave 19k miles of almost faultless service.

Highlights of some cars I have owned in the past are:

2002 plate phase 2 Clio 172, sold for spares to a guy who was planning to put an F4R T out of a megane into it after snapping a cambelt, best 950 pounds I even spent however.

2004 Honda Civic Type R, biggest regret is selling it for practically nothing, right before prices went a bit silly for unmodified examples.

2009 BMW 118D. Sold after the anxiety of timing chain failure was too much to handle without medication.

2003 Golf GT TDI PD130, leaked water in to the cabin and oil out of the intercooler, mega comfy, suspect it had been tinkered with at some point by a previous owner because it went pretty well. Again sold for spares after someone left a note on the windscreen and made an offer too good to say no to.

I dabble in a bit of my own spannering and DIY maintenance with the help of YouTube, not as much as I would like to however as I have been described as "a bit cackhanded" on more than one occasion.

Thanks for having me, I shall look forward to getting stuck in to the forum!

Alex.

I lived in the Netherlands the first 1/2 of my life, in the USA the 2nd 1/2.

I'm into Hot Rods and Racecars ( specially ones that are built period correct to a certain era).

I only just became aware of this forum, so I thought I'd have a look around...

Pic of my current project.

Thanks Stuboy.

I've got a couple of choices, all Small Block Chevy based.

I've got a mcCulloch blown small journal 327 ( I had this engine in a Hot Rod I built some years ago, but the carb was problematic running under pressure with today's pumpgas. I plan to give it another chance with 2 blow trough IDF Webers)
A 400 cubic inch all aluminum Donovan race engine out of my '73 Capri race car ( a detuned engine that ran on alcohol in a outlaw sprint car )
A Dz302 short stroke race engine, also for the Capri.

The 2 race engines will be in the '32 just to dial them in, because it will be so much easier to work on them than in the Capri ( with a massive engine setback, dry sump, 180deg exhaust, etc, its not easy to work on).

But the Donovan should be mild enough to live with on the street.
If that proves to be right, I might leave it in the '32... :)

Its getting a Super T10 4speed, and a 9" rear axle.

Oh yes!  Really doesn't get much better than that, does it.  Looks great in that colour too.

Is there a DeLorean in the garage?

Hi everyone!!

I signed up here a while back but never got around to posting.  I'm a good friend of @grizz of this parish with a similarly eclectic taste in cars and activities.

Current beasts of burden that might qualify to grace these pages are:

  1. 52 plate ML55 is poor cosmetic condition, but oh so nice to drive.
  2. 51 plate Audi A4 Avant (actually my son's, but living with me for the time being)
  3. Y- reg Micra - used as a family spare, currently with my son at Uni. (acquired from @grizz)
  4. 04 plate Nissan Terrano.  Was SWMBO's but needs to be shifted as she got something newer from a friend due to ULEZ changes
  5. Mk1 Golf Clipper - my son's project, but not making progress just now...

I (we) also have some other toys that are either much older or have less wheels, not sure they qualify...

Welcome Craig.

I suspect most of your treasures will have an interest here.

Micra currently resides in Ireland.

You mean like the Schmitt in my avatar?  What's the saying?  "That's not shite!!"  Happy to bore the audience with ramblings about 'Lil, the truck, the lawn tractors, etc, etc if they want.
