VIN numbers, lost registration.

Does anyone know of a website or anything where I could get a VIN number decoded to give me a vehicles registration number?

I’ve been helping a neighbor move an old Triumph motorbike out of his lockup as he’s selling stuff and getting rid of the lockup.

The Triumph is sold already but also in there is a Yamaha RD, trouble is the number plate is missing as is the V5. It’s genuine and still has its key and VIN though.

How could I go about finding out what it’s registration is?

Also, I think it’s an RD400 but it might also be an RD350, I don’t know much about bikes tbh but wouldn’t mind finding out for the owner.

PM me the vin number Dan and I’ll run a trade HPI on it for you

I might be able to help here. I say might because I have done it with cars through work in the past but never with a bike.

Nevertheless, if you want to PM the VIN I’ll give it a go for you.

You need someone to put the VIN through a trade HPI.

Someone off here helped me in a similar situation.

Alternatively, if the owner just sends off the V62 form for a new logbook and includes the VIN they should get a new logbook through, provided it's on the computer somewhere.

Thanks gents!

I’ve sent a couple of PM’s, hopefully something can be found.

Apparently it needs to go really but of course having a reg number would help enormously with selling it on!

It’s been sat in there for a long time, he’d actually forgotten he even had it!

I’d half considered taking it on to restore myself but timing isn’t great for me at the moment and I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before either so I’d probably end up killing myself on the thing!

RD400 would be AIRCOOLED Looks Very similar to an RD200

RD350LC would be liquid cooled

RD350LCYPVS would have the Yamaha Power Valve system.

RD250LC would have a Single front Disc RD350LC would have a twin front disc.

That's it. That's all I can tell you.

If a certain TV programme had 'Put up a post on Autoshite' as one of the options for getting help with the answers, there would be a lot more millionaires out there... :-)

Only if the question wasn't -

It is definitely air cooled. Didn’t notice the brakes though. I honestly don’t know! All bikes look the same to me!

Yeah but the KH ? wasn't that a triple?

I had an RD350LC on standard pipes and it was a nice thing. Easy to ride. No vicious powerband which a pair of microns would bring you.
