skattrd Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I'm home, exhausted and sunburnt, cracking day, thanks for organising tix etc brownnova. As always, good to see old faces and new, and I must say the Maxima was lovelty for the 250 mile round-trip. Squire_Dawson and catsinthewelder 2
dollywobbler Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Fabulous day. I was worried it might be a bit 'meh' today, and almost didn't buy a ticket. Then I did, and I went, and it was great! Great fun winding up the commentator with generally silly happenings. I think that all started when seven of us turned up in the Super Snipe (by which time he'd already called me eccentric again, because I took the 2CV into the Sports Car and Convertibles bit). Then more silliness happened in the 1980s section... Was glad to get home though... Wack, Six-cylinder, Cavcraft and 13 others 16
chaseracer Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Good day. Top people. Excellent tea. Drove R16. catsinthewelder, Junkman, eddyramrod and 3 others 6
chodweaver Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Best car show I've been to, purely for the multiple test drives and hooning around the field 'after school club'. Great sports, everyone who put their cars up for allcomers to have a drive of. Thanks for making it a great day. Good to see you all. Junkman, brownnova, chaseracer and 2 others 5
Keymaster Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I'm home, exhausted and sunburnt.Me too! Had a great day and now wondering why I didn't attend years ago. Thanks and great to meet you all. eddyramrod, catsinthewelder, Junkman and 1 other 4
dollywobbler Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Moar pics. Camper van teapot WIN! Trying to hand-crank the Dacia. The club in front of us had quality gold. Elly in the Sports Cars and Convertibles class. She didn't win. The rear of the Humber Super Snipe sevensome. "YOUR FRIENDS ARE REALLY ODD. AREN'T THEY ODD EVERYONE? WHY ARE YOUR FRIENDS SO ODD?" Peasant Wagons. 2CV panal telekinesis. Only possible with the right hat. Dacia proved immune to the telekinesis hat. It also didn't much like starting, but got there (on the handle) in the end! C91 Section. eddyramrod, Keymaster, drum and 15 others 18
Fumbler Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Mighty Dacia. On strike since it made UK lanfall...In all honesty, what a lovely meet that must have been. Also good to see Elly with a fellow Frenchman (or woman).
Junkman Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Parts commonality: Two cars from a country with a totalitarian communist regime and a Dacia. There was another Renner, though: Squire_Dawson, Lacquer Peel, eddyramrod and 13 others 16
retrogeezer Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 much awesomeness, loving the 2CV shenanigans..
Squire_Dawson Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Good write-up and photos people. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and seeing old friends again. The only 'bad' point is it marks the end of the season and therefore the descent into winter! I was quietly pleased Mr. Microphone was on top form with his thinly veiled mild insults, ha ha! It was great to see such a good turnout of AS folk and I had a lot of fun, even though I did go a bit quiet in the afternoon (fatigue). Thanks to Brown nova for organising tickets etc and Krujoe for cups of tea which were most welcome indeed. And I'm glad we packed 7 people in the Humber, next time 4 in the front?! Junkman, chodweaver, chaseracer and 4 others 7
brownnova Posted September 2, 2018 Author Posted September 2, 2018 This really was a superb day out! Swedish corner: The only shot of our “stand” which I took Thankyou do so much to those who let me have a go in their cars! Highlight of my day! And to all those who showed interest and wanted to drive mine! Still cant quite believe I got to drive a Renault 16! Thanks for all being so lovely and accommodating to Sian too, she said what a nice bunch Shiters clearly are! (And to wobbler for increasing the likelihood of us getting a 2CV) It genuinely was the best way to end my long summer break before going back to work tomorrow. From wandering the show to drinking tea in the camper or by the table and chatting. Bring on next year, here’s hoping Mr Commentators survives the official complaint! drum, Squire_Dawson, chodweaver and 13 others 16
chodweaver Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 A great day, in no small measure due to the hospitality of those with kettles and campers! brownnova, Junkman, Squire_Dawson and 1 other 4
Ghosty Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 A great Chumley as ever, my third, and for some bloody daft reason the second one I've got a lift to (first one - no car, second, Volvo, third - car on SORN). I've learned that manuals aren't as bad as I remember, old Renaults are the best things of ever, Minis are shit, and blue tape is better than red tape. chodweaver Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 But, I disagree. Minis are not shit. They're just misunderstood. eddyramrod and Conrad D. Conelrad 2
davidfowler2000 Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 23:01 Home. Well. Parents house. Easier to take the 740 to Cowdenbeath from here in the morning for it's yearly fettle and MoT. Pictures to follow. oldcars, Ghosty, Junkman and 3 others 6
Richard Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Got home about 00:15 after a stop for a wazz in a layby and another stop in Kinross services to scrape off the dogshit I stood in at the layby. chodweaver, Junkman, catsinthewelder and 1 other 4
Wack Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 What did the commentator say to get a complaint , did baldrick complain he was impersonating him
catsinthewelder Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 It was probably the woman with the Fiesta that he didn't recognise and called a Sierra. Can I just echo what a good day it was. We had a lovely crowd of Shitters there to talk to and play in each other's cars. I had a slightly surreal moment on the way home. The bumps through the town centre saw one of the numberplate bolts falling out so a passerby flagged me down outside the kebab shop. He asked me about the car and a chap from the kebab shop was very excited to see an old Renault and another guy walked past who was a Hubnut fan who recognised it straight away. Fortunately the numberplate appears fine. Skizzer, johngarty, loserone and 8 others 11
Bwrlwm Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Great to meet you all for the first time yesterday,a great welcome from a down to earth bunch of car mad fanatics , ,Looking foreword to the next meet,ta Kevin Squire_Dawson, catsinthewelder and chodweaver 3

Junkman Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 There were a few other people with cars. One brought this Taunus: A nice car ruined by making a circus tractor out of it: All this is missing is a set of steelies with caps and ditching of those lights: This example is really nice inside and out: The Confederate flag was flown above the flag of the Confederate State of Montana(not sure which flag was flown above the Union flag, but there should never be one): Choice of colour was deemed controversial by some: This rare Consul Capri is exceptionally straight: I would like to see the build sheet of that: Quite a stunner she is ATCNBE: Impeccably restored, weirdly not resprayed resale red: Kujira Crown k00pay OMG JDM Retrodrift: '68 Catalina nicely celebrates superb coke bottle styling with some ASBO wheels: chaseracer, Twiggy, drum and 10 others 13

Twiggy Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 It was there, I assume it went home with Ghosty. Thank you - I must have missed it in the excitement of the phantastic fotographs......................
brownnova Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 As Herr Junkman has indicated other cars were present at this shindig. My highlights included: A beautiful beautiful Facel Vega Extreme Turquoising What I like to think my Mazda looks like The man in this was astounded I knew what a Renault 11 was The Renault luxury before it went all mad... And my personal favourite It’s not a helicopter, it’s not a Red Indian.... this Apache is an Austin Great times! Still grinning even now.... That could be the lunacy... Toledo71, chodweaver, Keymaster and 7 others 10
dollywobbler Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Crap. I forgot to go back and do video of the Apache. I'm feeling quite broken now to be honest. GREAT EVENT HANGOVER!
Inspector Morose Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 As ever, late to the party with my photos. No witty comments, just the shots, man.It was an event. I might go back. Toledo71, RobT, Squire_Dawson and 4 others 7
