egg Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 To be honest, my Uno used to randomly turn other things on at times with the ignition on.
puntopaul Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 There's a couple of mk1 Uno's breaking on ebay, might be worth getting the ignition switch from them? As the online parts catalogues Fiat dealers have don't cover the mk1, as the mk1 parts are only on microfiche. Assuming your local Fiat dealer still has a microfiche, I'd probably suspect that part number they gave you won't be any good unfortunately. As looks to me like one for a mk2 Uno, I'm not sure I have one but I'll rummage through my parts stash!
Talbot Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 Things not working can absolutely be the fault of the ignition switch. The wiper *permanently* working I suspect is something else (like a broken or shorting wiper switch maybe.) egg 1
Steve79 Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 After much faffing around trying to figure out why the new switch wasn't working, it was discovered that the one I bought was for a mk2 (even though the main stealer and febi bilstein say otherwise. Through caution and my credit card to the wind and this arrived the other day from amazon Inside was This was duly plugged in (forgot to get pics) and almost everything works correctly in true fiat fashion. The wipers didn't want to switch off for 10 mins or so but vigorous waggling on the light switches and wiper switches ensured correct order. Brakes pedal is now sinking to the floor and petrol pipe going from carb to pump is leaking. Oh and the alternator belt decided to protest at being awoken from its long slumber and snapped (thankfully no damage done). Burnside, Kringle, danthecapriman and 3 others 6
Parky Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 At least the petrol pipe and belt will be cheap bits to replace. And this is probably worth snaffling up https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/fiat-uno-903cc-999c-1983-86-brake-Master-Cylinder-BENDIX-132220b/371888696993?hash=item56964b2ea1:g:fzcAAOSwXYtYwoYS Provided it’s correct of course....
Steve79 Posted July 3, 2018 Author Posted July 3, 2018 New pipe already sourced from an offcut my mate had. Going to check all brake pipes, hoses, drum and calipers before I buy any brake related items.
Steve79 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 I knew this would happen! Its happened before and will happen again. FISTPAN UNO 0 - Lack of enthusiasm 1 I really just do not have the time or energy to commit to getting this properly sorted and its way down my priority list compared with the BMW and Jag (updates soon i promise). Its running now and 99.9% of electrics are functioning correctly but has developed a missfire which is most likely related to plugs and leads being aged to say the least. Also brakes are currently non functional which again is mostly going to be faulty master cylinder or perished seals. I'm looking for a quick sale as i just want it gone and it has to go within the next week. It owes me about £250 but i'll let it go for £150 (no less). Obviously it'll need to be picked up with an a-frame or trailer due to lack of brakes and missfire. Note: Engines go for about £400 as the 126 crowd like them. If no one wants the car complete i am prepared to break it. Aston Martin 1
Aston Martin Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 I'll give £50 for the plate. And I'll pay fees.

Steve79 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 I'll give £50 for the plate. And I'll pay fees.Car needs to be mot'd to transfer plate off. Mot would require more work.
loserone Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Didn't think that was the case anymore Pillock and Cavcraft 2
vulgalour Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 ffffuuuu I want to buy this just for the interior but I have many reasons why I cannot. I do hope someone takes it off your hands regardless so here's a little GLWTS from me. Sorry I'm being a timewasting fanny by not throwing the meagre asking price at you and relieving you of this fine Italian product. Cavcraft 1
BorniteIdentity Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Car needs to be mot'd to transfer plate off. Mot would require more work. Not quite true. It needs continuous SORN or a current MOT.
D Spares & Tyres Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Car needs to be mot'd to transfer plate off. Mot would require more work.It doesn't need to be taxed or mot'd, but it does need to be SORNED and mot'd within the last 3 years. If there is any gap, even a day between tax expiring and SORNING then it will need to be retaxed
castros_bro Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Sorry to be a Fuckwit but can you clarify the ALL the Uno details as all the other Fuckwits have made it confusing?
Steve79 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 Its been off the road for the last 13 years and am fairly sure that it never had sorn on it as it predated sorn.
SiC Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 ffffuuuu I want to buy this just for the interior but I have many reasons why I cannot. Steve79 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 Ok, so to clarify" ▪Its currently on sorn▪Its been off the road for 13 years▪Does run but is missfiring▪Brakes non functional (handbrake ok)▪V5 here in my name▪Brand new ignition barrel switch and key Will break for spares if no-one interested in complete car.
Steve79 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 Well Mike knows the route to Bristol now and can tow a trailer here. Only 10mins from chez SiC
Steve79 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 Tell you what Vulg, if it comes to breaking the car you can have the interior free on the proviso that at least some of it features in the princess oldcars, Kringle, uk_senator and 1 other 4
Burnside Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Shame you can't get it back on the road and be even worse to see it broken up as there a rare sight now, not criticising of course but hope it can be saved. There great little cars to drive. I'd have it myself but typically I'm skint and haven't got the space at the minute.
Steve79 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 ^^^^I'm not really keen on breaking it as i'd rather it go to a good home. With a 9mth old who is insisting on waking a 5am almost every morning i'm finding that my mojo and available time for involved work is limited. Also having three other cars isn't helping! Kringle 1
Kringle Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Goodness me don't break it! Why did the PO park it up originally? I couldn't see that in the thread.
MorrisItalSLX Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 If you are going to break it, send the engine to Dollywobbler so he can plonk it in the Fox. Then send the interior to Vulgalour so he can plonk it in his living room! dougiefourspeed and Cavcraft 2
Steve79 Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 Due to lack of interest and it needing to be moved asap, its the end for fistpan. I've already started to strip as much as i can from it and then bridge the rest. Upon further inspection pretty much every bolt underneath and braking component is seized virtually solid and hidden rot has come to light. So probably for the best! Vulg, you want the interior? No charge. Might be able to seperate the covers if you don't want the seats and post them.
