Despite the impending weather

I decided it was an excellent time to make a 300 mile trip to collect a £350 car...

Hoping the beast from the east holds off til tomorrow. more to follow..

So fairly predictably its another MG ZT!

Mine has a fairly lengthy list of repairs needed for its looming MOT in a fortnight so the chance of a minter with lots of history and the belts done for £350 could not be passed up.

Met the guy at Stockport station and it turned out he's a funeral director and the car was parked at the mortuary. He rocked up fresh from a burial in the full black gear. " sorry I got a bit held up mate" :D

Fairly unique experience moving new coffins out of the way to extract the car.

The run back up was a bit hairy through the lake district and on the M74 with full blizzard conditions and 10mph traffic in places, but I made it.

Seems a belter, 93k, lots of history and all I can find wrong is a weak battery and a blocked breather pipe.

Its had a proper test over the last few days dealing with the Beast from the East and no nasties have shown up whatsoever.

its a V6, although this one is the 160 rather than 190. Short MOT, but going by the test history and the fact its only done 1k since the last one it should be ok. Going to purge my red one of some bits and stick it on ebay as spears or reapers as its too good just to weigh in.post-212-0-54704000-1519925387_thumb.jpgpost-212-0-94041200-1519925396_thumb.jpgpost-212-0-80271400-1519925445_thumb.jpgpost-212-0-30534100-1519925560_thumb.jpg

Looks pretty hairy. And of course the weather was poor.

Well played man.

The young and popular mans Rover 75.

Always reminds me of playing The Getaway on PS2. I hope he indicators act as a primitive navigational system ?(!)

Well bought. Enjoy!

What a joyous machine.

I really ought to know the answer to this, but what are the differences between the 160 and 190 KV6? And, improved head and gasket design apart, my own 175bhp version?

Im really not sure. It does have much smaller brakes than my red one (which is a 190) and there is a noticeable power drop, but no gain in mpg!

I'm not really sure what the thinking was behind this model given there's no real fuel benefit... especially since a standard v6 75 is 177bhp! I do know theres more to it than just an ECU map though.

Tis very tidy indeed, which outweighs the power loss for me

This is lovely. I even rather like that spoiler. If you move it on let me know, etc...

I've been on the lookout for a decent estate version, called a man today about just such a one as spotted in the MG club mag but seems I missed out by an hour or so, disappointingly. Probably bought by someone on here...

This looks really very smart. Estate version just went on my dogmobile shopping list!

That is a bargainous joy to behold! Well played sir..........

I too 'was' after a ZTT estate - my bother had one a while back but punted it on before I knew he was getting rid. The recent feet first jumping into a T5 wreck purchase has delayed the ZTT drooling for the moment. one day Rodney, one day...........

It's a lovely colour on this too......... what's the MoT prognisis - had a look yet?

190 has larger front (and smaller rear) discs.  Induction pipe is bigger on 190, as is the exhaust and the rear box design is different.  Cam profiles are different and the 190 cam tools are unique - the 160/180 ones don't fit.

The gearing of the 190 is shorter.

Apart from that. not much :)

I've got one half finished if you fancy a project.

190 estate with a lot of options - had HGF, I bought a replacement second hand engine, fitted new belts and waterpump using the proper timing tools etc, new clutch and slave cylinder.

Engine's back in the car but I never have any time to work on it these days.

PM me if interested - I have a stack of new parts to go on it.

Low miles, good history, two keys, all book packs etc.

This was it in 2014 - but not much has changed

One of only two made in that colour too.

I think I quite like that colour. Certainly unusual anyway.

A project of any kind might be beyond my limited abilities but it's interesting for sure. Message incoming...
