Wandered up to the shop today and saw they were selling e-cig liquid at 2 for 1. So thought I'd have a touch of that. Anyway, bloke begind the counter was a right surly fucker so when he completely ballsed it up putting it through the till, I didn't bother to tell him.

Ended up with two LARGE bottles (cherry and menthol) which were a tenner each for £5! :)

On a related note, been smoking my e-cig for a few days now and it has cut my real fag intake down by half, I could cut out the real ones altogether but having got a cupboard full of the bastards, I feel honour bound to smeke them!  :)

Our rat trap caught a victim last night. Which is good, as the sodding thing whacked me on the knuckle as I was trying to set it the other day. Rat traps are like mouse traps, but bigger and scarier. Rats like almonds by the way.

Slept the sleep of the dead last night and now my back is magically much better.  No more shuffling and hunching, just a little bit sore.  Hope that means I can crack on with some artwork today, I've got weird old cars to draw!

Met up with an ex work mate recently, not seen him since we worked together at Lucas Automotive in Burnley circa 1995. We were reminiscing as you do, about the good old days and got on to the topic of the bullshit management speak of the day. Amongst many other initiatives, the management were trying to save money by getting rid of contract cleaners and implementing a 'housekeeping policy' meaning the employees cleaned up. A prize was offered for the best' housekeeping 'slogan. Bearing in mind Lucas had production lines of hundreds of women and around fifty blokes in the engineering/moulding departments one of the suggestions was a classic. It was "Come in early and sweep up Girlie" It didn't win needless to say, and I had totally forgotten about it. Made my day hearing about it again. Class.

Floppy top Saab's mot is due in about 4 weeks so time to sort a couple of bits,

1. SRS light on dash is still on (had it plugged into 3 diff diag machines to no avail, dammit)

2. front tyres are a little low, not a failure but probs an advisory.

Saw 4 part worn pirellis on egay quite local to me, won 'em for £20, went to my local indy saab guy last night and he cleared the srs light for me and only charged me a score :D

So with tyre fillting (£20) the Swede is ready for mot at a cost of £60.

Just done my sums on this motor, 15 months and circa 8k miles motoring including purchase price has cost £540.  :D :D That's bangernomics for you!

compared to paying £100+ per month on a 1l eurobox that I'd never own, it's pretty good in my book and I had a lot more fun in a v6 convertible ;)

Check this bad boy out I actually had to stop traffic to take a pic is was so amazing.

Step lader required to get in rather than a normal step.

Emagine the caravan club, they would have a meltdown if i turned up in that :)

I might start quantifying car costs in finance payment instalments.  "This car only cost me 2 instalments."  "Clutch was expensive, it took me 6 instalments to get that sorted out!"

It's what I do. I'm well ahead of anyone I know who's gone the finance route. Mate's just chopped her 10-plate Corsa in for a shiny 15-plate. £100 per month now. But it's new, not second hand!

Posted

My eyes were opened on the hideous cost of finance when going with a friend to get a used car when his new one was written off by someone else driving into him.  He paid more on two finance plans than I paid ever for all my cars in 3 years.  It wasn't even any guarantee for reliability either because the 'service' he'd had ended up with him having knackered brakes which he had to pay to sort out, he wasn't covered for the flat tyres he kept having to fork out for and he was generally not treated particularly well by the dealers who seemed to try and get him to take all sorts of things out he didn't actually need.

I did try and point out that an economical, affordable, reliable hatchback could be got for less than 3 monthly payments all in but he didn't want the hassle of 'old cars' having seen some of the grief the Princess had given me.  You can't very well compare a badly cared for nearly 40 year old car built by slackers with a 10-15 year old Japanese hatchback but that's what he did.

Trying to work out how much of a mix i run through the prince of darkness pump as fitted to the polo. Most i've done so far is 15%..

But at 79p/l i can see 50% worth a try

Nearly did a wee at turning a corner this morning in and seeing a bright green 120Y coupe at some lights. Not seen it about before and wish I had a picture

I ran my 98 1.9D on 50/50 for a few thousand miles, nothing bad happened.

I've got just under 1/4 of derv left, shall be brimming it with 40 odd litres and hoping for the best...

Or I'll chicken out and put 30 litres in and another 10 of Dino juice

That is the shittest pothole repair I've ever seen.

How can he compare his 'artwork' to graffiti artists or even Banksy?! He's drawing knobs on the road.

DVLA being efficient shocker !!!!!!! I posted the registration papers for my Fregate on the 21st and yesterday the V5 turned up followed by the paperwork to get the number plates and confirmation of tax today. Admittedly it took HMRC over a month to process the Nova though so where they improve in one department they fail in another. All I need to do now is rebuild the engine, find someone to paint it then stick the whole lot back together.

Ebay, it's rare but it happens -

my reply to a buyer asking if  a case for storing magic props I'm selling for my cousin comes with the keys -

"Hello,

The key(s) are shown in the second picture on the auction.

I'm considering blocking you from bidding on the item however as a true magician wouldn't need the keys anyway. :-)

Thanks."

Went in to work today and within about 4 minutes it was looking like being a proper cunt of a day so I sacked it off and went for a drive instead.

Remember that? just going for a drive....not to get somewhere, just purely for the pleasure of driving, no matter where.

I headed south....open roads, mountain passes, a little bit of motorway, and found myself at the beach. Its weird living so far from the sea....all my life before I came here I have lived literally a couple of minutes at the most from the seaside, but its near on three hours away here. I had brought my sandwiches so munched down looking out over the waves, then got in the car and drove some more.....feck knows where I went, but I hosed nearly a full tank of juice and put several hundred miles on the Escort. I picked up a pizza on the way home and just polished that off just now.

I wasnt in much of a spotting mood, so nothing to report apart from this ex UMM dealer garage....

Even paintings of UMMs go all flaky after a few years!
