What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Mr_Claypole: if the symptoms are that the internet is working but you cannot view lots of web pages this could be down to the dns servers. I usually change the default ones set on the router to faster/better ones as I find dns servers provided by ISPs are not always the best. I've had plusnet & T-mobile dns servers go down before.

They are greyed out - I checked today as it's no better, top work BT.  I tried to alter them on the network bit of the pc but no dice, very annoying.

I decided to drive to work for a change, as I've got a stinking cold and can't be doing with public transport today.  A Rover 75 badermatic plus Classic FM is a nice way to travel.  Parking will cost me £20 today but fuck it, beats the train!

Anybody seen Classic Car Weekly?

Apparently the old bill are going to attend banger races to check for stolen cars.

Some good comments on the FB page - agree with the general consensus that there's a bit of frothing going on. The police would find more dodginess going round the average Mini or Land Rover show and rounding up all the ringers.

Just squeezed 45mpg out of the Vectra, not bad when probably 70-75% of that was giving it some real welly.

He's clearly had "rat-look" explained to him very briefly by a heavily concussed 5-year-old with a drug problem and a speech impediment, then ignored half of that and made the rest up after 3 or 4 bottles of vodka.

I know the whole wonky plates and camo thing riles a few of us, but I literally have no idea what any of that stuff on the Ka even means. My mind is well and truly boggled.

Its even got a friggin private plate. Is it really cherished that much??

I got given a Goblin Commander to refurb and sell for someone. Its fucked, so the best they'll get is a few quid for parts, but thats for a different forum.

However, randomly there was a 1993 copy of the daily mail stuffed into the bottom of the bag

When I'm rich I'm going to set up two museums on the same site, between them will be a superb café offering excellent grub at top rates, but that's something I'll go into detail on my business plan rather than here.  Anyway, the goal of the museum is to buy UTTERLY monged cars like the above and put them in the Before museum.  My team of enthusiastic volunteers will then restore the car to its former glory to be displayed in the After museum.

At least once there will be a fire in the Before museum.  I will have specific insurance for this.  I suspect I can get some sort of grant for this endeavour from the Arts Council.

I just did a quick serach on gumtree for metros and the wee bit where it suggests other searches was "bungallow in york" made me chuckle for no reason.

I'm overjoyed at the prospect of all the de-Trottered Reliants that could pass through such an establishment.

Work's darts comp last night in a pub. I played the lad I lost to last year and beat him, which evened things up a bit. After a dirty tricks/hearts and minds/propaganda campaign over the last week which I might* have played a large part in, our team won for the second time running. Got quite pissed, free bar and it went to the very last game.

Have a massive hangover and headache now, but it was worth it.

Heavy frost on the Versatile Forty last night. Deep, soft and velvety. Beautiful.

I've done it! It's been absolutely ages (possibly two years) but I've finally cleared my garage out and put a car in there! Picture/s later.

Have you told the wife or does this mean you can hoard a secret car?

Nowt special, sadly, just means I can move the Xantia from a mate's drive and doss it in the garage out of the way. I have to (still) give credit for the bread knife, she really does seem completely unconcerned about my awful selection of motors. Extra kudos to her for saying she liked the Vectra, too. Can't be many birds who are happy about being piloted round in one of them.
