Not only was my son given an award for being student of the year on the motor vehicle technician course at college, he's just landed a 6 month job as a train mechanic!

Good darts! It's not that easy to get a decent entry-level job nowadays.

Today's grin: In the last week, one of my mates has bought a Calibra 2.0 8v, another one (an occasional poster / lurker on here) is just sorting out viewing/buying a Calibra V6 this coming weekend and another mate is looking out for one as well...!

That thread (and thief) is pretty special.

What amuses me is that if you google his phone number, his adverts for "work wanted" and "scooter for sale" are all interspersed with "Thief steals loads of stuff", "Guy robs van worth of tools" etc. Don't fancy his chances of getting work again!

My missus is going to love that!

There's a van around here advertising a tanning salon which reads Tan + Go, whilst driving past it always tickles me as at a glance it reads Tango

That happened to someone I knew in a Peugeot. Due to the stupidly small/close together pedals he hit the accelerator instead of the brake and demolished a large wall.

When I was 17, I had been driving my first car around for a couple of weeks without driving any other cars. One night I decided to put it in the garage but my dad asked me to pop his car back on the drive behind it once mine was in. Sadly the offset and probably the size of the pedal gaps in the Renault 19 compared to the Imp meant that instead of hitting the brake whilst going down the drive, I hit the accellerator and crashed into the garage door, damaging it so that it would not open and locking my car inside. It took a further 10 days for the garage to get mended. Gutted.

Thankfully the Reanault 19 was undamaged too.

When I first got my 206 I wore my large wide work shoes and went out for a drive, and simultaneously braked and red-lined the engine, spinning the turbo up to full bollocks trying to stop at a roundabout.

Luckily I was on my own so sheepishly drove away and paid more attention to the pedals. When I scrapped the 206 and bought the Puma I had to get used to having more space between the pedals again!

A couple of days ago I had to collect a Vectra from storage. I keep some cars on hard standing in the corner of my mates field .The only problem is it's a two acre field that was used for grazing. The field is very boggy underfoot and the car I was going to leave there got stuck.I walked to the bottom corner and fetched the Vectra.About 30 feet from the other car I got that stuck too...Arse...

I phoned my mate and he came down and towed the Vectra out with his Discovery. The other car, an Alfa Sportwagon, wasn't so easy.We dragged it about ten feet before the Discovery started to bog down.I needed to get the Vectra home so we just left the Alfa where it was.

Today I had half an hour to spare so drove down the field but parked on the road. This time I took the keys for another car that is down there.I trudged to the bottom corner and after 30 seconds of glow-plug action the old car fired up.I haven't used it since the snow in January but it started fine and trundled up to the top of the field no problem.

This 8032900920_1910a1ba13.jpg

dragged the Alfa out no bother. That's what made me grin.A 46 year old Landy comes in handy even if it doesn't get used from one month to the next.

Annoying parent/smug post, nothing to see...

Finally some bloody snow at the dry slope! I wish daughter number 2 would take it up, because it's £16 for 2 hours compared to bleeding horse riding (£24 for just an hour). Choose Boys not Girls shitters! Saying that the race season starts in 4 weeks, and there is always a huge cake stand at every round. Quite exciting watching the kids wallop the slalom poles, worth a sniff if your kids are restless.

ah - if the Rover and RAC ones I can see on here are similar money, I'd be interested. What other signs are there?

I'M INTERESTED IN THE ROVER ONE!!!!

Please ask how much and I shall get the cash over asap. I'm not on Facebook so can't really get into the page to ask or make an offer. I can offer £50 if that secures it.

Campbell, if you get it before me, no worries.

I thought the gearbox on my golf was fucked but it turns out that cos I'm an idiot and lowered it a stupid amount snow had packed all the linkages up solid and wedged it in gear.
