What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

This is a bit juvenile, but if you're ever in a public place with your laptop, or work in a busy office on a PC, this site offers an opportunity for a bit of a chuckle.

Looking as furtive as possible but with as many people as possible watching, type some random letters and swear occasionally.

Finish by tapping either Alt or Caps Lock 3 times depending whether you want a result or more swearing. 8)

I don't get, nothing seems to happen when I type something into it?

My dad came to pick me up earlier in his van, to go and get a new heater blower. He had a saucer gaffa taped to the dashboard on top of the clocks with half a dozen tealight candles burning away to keep the windscreen demisted :lol:

Turns out he's been driving round like that for about a fortnight. New heater blower was £30 and took about 2 minutes to fit.

And you didn't get a picture to show us? That sounds like top shiting to me, your Dad is some sort of hero.

Posted

I thought I'd took a picture, but instead I'd just put my phone in video mode and recorded 20 minutes of video of the inside of my pocket.

That is brilliant. Christ know what the rozzers would have said if they'd spotted him he'd probably have been chased across town by a fire engine trying to extinguish him.

My dad erected a wooden shelf to the dashboard in his Proton, it was varnished with those routed edgings you can nail on. A shelf!

I'm still trying to figure out where this reputation for being unreliable comes from with BL stuff. Maybe I've got two good ones. Went to the Princess who is covered in a good couple of inches of snow, pulled out choke, stuck key in, car fires up just like always. Likewise, the Maestro is trouble free. Nice to have a bit of good news for once.

I expect a post in the GOM thread when you have stayed in the shithole that is Travelodge.

I stayed in a Premier Inn a couple weeks ago which was very nice except the EPG on the TV would only show you what was on the channel you were watching, so to see what was on another channel you had to actually change to that channel. I have never, ever been in a hotel where the television wasn't inexplicably useless in one way or another.

I may be a bit behind the times here, but I understood that the only way to see what was on each tv channel was either a copy of the Radio Times or to actually change channel.

Am 180 miles away from home, staying in a Holiday Inn, it is 11.25 pm and I have not even checked what is on TV since I got in from work at 7. Had a shower, tea, and straight back to Autoshite. Better than telly. Makes me grin!

:D

Good old Ceefax. Distinctly remember it being the only thing on telly to watch on those early mornings - holidays, christmas - when we should've been in bed and the parents wanted their sleep, that and playing very quietly with Lego.

Autoshite's resident Leyland National 2 has been modelled by EFE in it's original livery - release date is February :D

Talking of which...Stagecoach have just got a contract round here and there's a bus outside that's broken down, not the first one either. They've only had the contract five minutes and apparently their buses are rubbish!

Even in the analogue days you could get an on screen "now and next" for all five channels (Ceefax 505, Teletext 123). This hotel TV took a few seconds to change channels and only displayed one channel's listings at a time. It was pretty tedious.

I bought an OHV engined 1998 Fiesta today with 70k on the clock, FSH, single figure previous owners, wheel arches and a years MOT and 6 months tax for £450. Not mega cheap, I know... But that's damn good going for 40+ MPG, no timing belt woes, a brand new clutch and pound land wheel trims ftw.

Lovely car, previous owner was a Ford Mechanic and has removed a "Restrictor" on the fuel rail which makes it as punchy as the Cavalier! Splendid!

Rather happy with my purchase!

They both appear to be fish. The one at the back looks like a child.

I may be missing the point though..

Dad was paying not enough attention when we returned from shopping and reversed straight into the neighbour's Corsa, the very same car that reversed into the Princess. Oh how I larfed (on the inside, because Dad was mortified). Maybe next time he'll wait for his rear screen to demist properly, or look out of the window to check the Corsa isn't there.
